A lot of times I worry about swallowing small pieces of plastic that breaks off from food packaging or from medicine packaging like Benadryl pills. I've heard that microwaving your food in plastic can leach toxic chemicals into your food. Well a stomach is hot and full of acid so if you swallowed bits of plastic wouldn't that also leach chemicals?

this has happened to me a few times over the years. it has varied from good quality fillet steak to cheap thin fry steak and it is the pre packaged airtight sealed type you would buy in a supermarket and is in date. big round patches turn a kind of greyish white colour. any ideas?

I recently bought a relatively inexpensive bottle of Riesling from Cologne. It's a 2006 bottle from the Mosel area. Unfortunately, it does contain sulfides. How long should I keep it? And while I'm asking, is there any must-haves that I should purchase while I am living in Europe?

if a product says nothing about animal testing is it most to assume that they are tested on animals?
Because surely if a product isn't then they would want customers to know this?

And do you know of any big brands that DO test on animals?

How long can you keep frozen meat (ground beef)? When do I know if it is time to throw it out? I am cleaning out my freezer and fridge and came across some ground beef from April of this year. Is it still safe to eat or is it better to throw it out? I usually stick to "when in doubt throw it out". Thanks!

I know there's a website where you can enter ingredients you have on hand and it will suggest recipes that use those items, but I can't seem to track the address down. Please Help! TIA!

When I am trying to save calories and fat, I usually choose fat free butters or mayos because I don't mind the taste...
but what about for cooking for crispiness... like with pizza bites/breaded cheese sticks type products? I KNOW when I add some oil, butter, or shortening to those they become crispy... but is that possible with any of those light alternatives?

Before I was a vegetarian, I loved stuffed crust pizzas, and I went to the store to pick one up today and discovered they only come in Supreme and Pepperoni, does anyone know of one that is just plain cheese, or maybe a simple recipe for my own? Thanks guys.

Why are oranges called oranges? Some people say it is because of the colour... but if that is so, why aren't bananas called yellows, or strawberries called reds?
