How long can you keep frozen meat (ground beef)? When do I know if it is time to throw it out? I am cleaning out my freezer and fridge and came across some ground beef from April of this year. Is it still safe to eat or is it better to throw it out? I usually stick to "when in doubt throw it out". Thanks!

Well wrapped beef can last a year as can a frozen Turkey and well wrapped pork. Fish about 6 months. This is not to say the meat is spoiled, it just can dry out and get freezer burnt and lose flavor.

With a Seal-A-Meal, the air is vacuumed out and meat can actually be kept up to 3 years depending on the meat. 3 months for ground beef is not a problem unless it has turned a whitish pink, gray. Then it still isnt harmful, just freezer burnt and not as moist or flavorful.

As long as it isn't freezer burnt, the meat should be o.k.
Thaw it out in the fridge, & if it smells funny throw it away.

if it's from April of this year then you should be fine...as long as it wasn't already going bad before you put it in the freezer.
