I've started a 'diet' and everytime I feel like eating sweets/chocolate I have some chewing gum instead. Good or Bad?

Sugar free gum is fine. Not too much though!

If it's sugar free gum then it's better than sweets in the calorie stakes but chewing gum stimultes saliva production and saliva contains enzymes that help to break down food so it may leave you feeling hungrier. you would be better off having a sweet treat like a low hot chocolate that will help beat off the sweet craving and also fill you up. dieting doesn't mean starving yourself, if you want to succeed then eat well and healthily.

well, obviously its not good to eat sweets on a diet! But if you go to any supermarket there are sugar free sweets which have little calories....weight watchers sweets taste good and are really low in fat!
Chewing gum makes you more hungry and makes more acid in your stomach, so i wouldnt recommend chewing it constantly

Either is good as long as they are sugar free. There is even diet chocolate. Buy your sweets and chocolate in the health shops and you can carry on as usual without having to worry. Hope the diet works for you

If you have to choose
Take the sweets.
You never see sucked sweets discarded on the street but we all have suffered from getting used chewing gum stuck to our shoes

Sugar free gum is better for a diet and your teeth too, unless of course you eat sugar free candy.
