im fairly skilled at cooking but by no means a chef, and something reasonable, say with a budget of no more than $30 for both of us. thats without drinks. we are both beer drinkers so a fancy bottle of wine would be useless. but i mean the whole meal otherwise, appetizer, main course, side dishes and dessert. but i want to cook it myself to show her im not some lazy slob that cant do anything right. by the way im 40 and single so i am used to cooking alot for myself. but most of the things i make are just simple things like pot roast or casseroles. i want something a little more impressive than serving her meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

I know that these cans are sold in NY, but why are they specifically labeled "New York"? I haven't seen this on cans sold in other states. Thanks!

I just started a new diet, which involves no white rice, but brown rice takes forever to cook. It's so frustrating when I'm starving!

I want to become vegetarian, but i come from an african family & they all <3 meat. if i decided to do it my parents would not want to support me to buy more fruits, nuts, veggies, etc. I also have to take into consideration what i'll eat at christmas, thanksgiving, my WEDDING. important events like that. i think it's something i have to do bc i've done a lot of research about it & am not just making this decision out of the blue. do you think it's worth it? any vegetarians out there want to offer some help? i'd apprieciate it a lot. thnx.

His mother is on a diet where she eats no carbs (nothing) and his dad is diabetic and has dentures (no corn on the cob).

I need a recipie for a salad and anything else that you think might be good with pork chops.

Also, this is our first time having them over. We are pretty close to them, but I have never hosted anything on my own and am still a little unsure of things...any tips for general hosting would be great too.
