Or perhaps I mean advanced cooking skills! Can anyone recommend a book/website or simply some basic advice in cooking with spices etc? It's one thing to follow a recipe - and I've cautiously invented some dishes on my own - but it would be nice to have a better idea of "food science", ie. what goes with what, how much do I need to put in, instead of just blindly following a recipe book.

I just bought a small 3 lb ham and i thought it would tell u if it was precooked or not and the derections but it didnt and i never made a ham before and i have been looking on the internet and i really havent got to much information. Does anyone know how long i need to keep it in the oven for and what do i need all to do? Can i just make it plain or do i need to add stuff someone please help thanks
