When my friend turned forty, we made a 'butt' cake by baking the cake in two shallow round glass bowls the same size, then cut one of the 'cheeks' to make it a half moon so it actually looked like someones rear end. We tinted frosting flesh colored. And on the cake we put little mini plastic skiers sliding down each cheek...since she skied...and wrote on the cake with piped frosting..."Happy Birthday Maria - It's All Downhill From Here!" It was a big hit!! :)

I didn't think you were considered over the hill until 50. But anyway, I think it's in bad taste when people decorate all in black & gray. I know it's supose to be a joke, but it's a birthday, not a funeral.

Tell all the guest to keep quite on the invite, that it's a surprize. Take your husband out to eat, while you designate someone to be at the house to welcome the guest. Serve cake, punch, & food. Maybe you could play some type of games or cards.

When my mother turned forty, we had a funeral theme. My grandmother and aunt distracted her by taking her shopping, Meanwhile the rest of the family set it up. It was great. Everyone was dressed in black, we had a coffin and a priest, she loved it!

We did this for a friend.

We got a casket and had a stripper bound out of it at the appropriate time.

It was a hoot!
