In my city, we have Persians - a cinnamon bun covered with strawberry icing. You can eat them as they are, or slice them in half and grill them (called a Toasted Persian, even if you don't actually put it in the toaster). Visitors to our city often buy them to bring home, or have friends and family send them by mail.

Is your hometown known for a special food? Is there something you always get when you visit another area?

If you were going to have a tea party, what would you serve?
Would you make it fancy or casual?

On the Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix it asks for a 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. Well i do not have vegetable oil, but I have vegetable shortening. If I melt the shortening to a half of a cup will that be the same as a 1/2 cup of vegetable oil? I am worried because shortening hardens back up and I do not want my cake to taste nasty do to the fact of the shortening.

a friend of mine has been vegetarian for about nine months, but he wasn't taking care to make sure he was getting the proper nutrients. now, he's been feeling sick for a while and is thining about going back to meat. does anyone have any recomendations as to supplements i can refer to him? b12 and vitamin c are all i can seem to think of right now...

(disclaimer: he's not going to eat meat, so if you're going to be a jerk and recomend he eat a cow, you can save it.)

I just tired kombucha for the first time last weekend and I think I'm a little addicted already. Does anyone else have a kombucha story? Do any of you make your own? I'm thinking of making my own and would love any tips you may have.

I have been frequenting Chinese restaurants in my town for several years, and a lot of them seem to have a similar tasting tea. It is wonderful, and tastes different than anything I have ever had before. I have asked several of the restaurateurs what kind of tea they are serving, and the only answer they give is Lipton. The Lipton tea I have tried does not taste like what I have had in the restaurants. Does anyone know what type of tea they might be serving? Could it be some kind of Chinese tea? Or is there something they are adding to the Lipton, possibly? Any info anyone has would be appreciated. I would love to be able to enjoy this tea at home as well as when dining out.

Chips!
Chips!
Lick your lips!
Get some dips
and swing your hips.
Forget about life's blips
And drips,
Just get a plate of chips!

When the winter snow, it nips,
And pierces like a thousand whips,
And devastating north wind rips,
Be heated with a plate of chips!

Oh, chips and chips
And chips and chips
Oh, heed my tips
And eat your chips.

No acid trips
Or pancake flips
Or sherry sips
Compare to chips.
On land or ships
Oh, get to grips
With potato strips.
They've got no pips.

My heart, it skips,
My memory slips,
My mind, it kips
And dreams of chips.
