I throw away leftovers after the next day. I am tired of wasting but scared of food poisoning. Help! Thanks!

It depends on the food item and how you have stored it. Some leftovers can be saved for many days if you throughly heat it thr when you get ready to use it. I don't like to keep items that cannot be heated very long nor do I keep items with mayonnaise for long. You learn from experience I suppose, as there is no set time. I try to use most left overs during the week that it was first made. You always have the option to freeze it and make a new meal all over again with it a later time up to six months.

Leftovers are generally OK and safe for 2-3 days. I get a little iffy on cooked fish at the third day. Pizza though I could easily eat for 3 days. I totally agree with getting some gladware and freezing stuff. It's great when you don't feel like cooking.

It depends on what it is, but you should be able to keep just about anything for at least 3 days!

The next day is kinda soon to throw away left overs- another option it to start freezing your left overs...They will keep much longer in the freezer.

Good Luck!

Write it on the food's container. After 2 or 3 days, just put it in the freezer (it stays good much longer in the freezer)

Not to be rude but LOOK AT THE EXPERATION DATE ON THE FOOD AND WHEN ITS CLOSE TO THE DATE YOU THROW IT AWAY. Chances of a food poising are slim to none 15%. I promise and leftovers are good. Look at the experation date and you will be good. If not you can sue me. Hehehe

Why don't you try to cut down on your cooking portions?
