I was just curious...given that I've been vegetarian all my life, and have become vegan recently...I was wondering what other people's reasons were as to what they do

A handful of girlfriends are getting together for dinner tomorrow at my place. I am a great cook and enjoy cooking new and unique dishes. The hitch? I am a poor college student. So, any ideas for a healthy and resonably priced dinner? (No pasta or other carb based dishes)

My husband refuses to eat chinese food. He thinks he will get 'sea gull' meat or something ridiculous. I am a vegetarian, so I only order veggies meals, and he won't even try that. I even tried white rice and steamed veggies, you can SEE that there are no rodents or anything cooked up in it. How can I help him overcome this issue and go out to dinner with me. (I am a vegetairan and have a gluten sensitivity, so it kind of hard for me to eat out).

I'm looking for the name of a French dish that is made with raw ground beef. It has Tabasco sauce and other spices in it. Again, it is ground beef eaten raw.
And if you know the name, do you have the recipe that you could give me, pleeeze?

Last time I planned something, I make chicken alfredo. Are there any other good foods that would work for candlelight dinner? Do you have a recipe (if needed)? Neither one of us drink alcohol, so what would be a good drink to have with the meal?

Is alcohol the root of all evil?
Have you been touched by something bad alcohol has done to someone?
Does alcohol tempt people to temptation itself?
Am I getting all weepy over nothing?

OK, that was more than one question...hehe

I didn't drink a drop of alcohol until I was of legal age. I like to drink alone -- in fact I don't like to drink with people. I know this sounds bad, but I just enjoy the "trip" and being alone in my house I can do so safely without the chance of doing something stupid or endangering others.

I can go a week or two without a drink, but then every once in a while I'll buy a bottle of wine or whiskey and drink it in one night.

I look at it like recreational drug use.

Do I have a problem or is this within the realm of healthy alcohol use?
