What's the filling in an eclair or pastry??

It looks like pudding, but is not as thick? I'm not looking for a recipe, but I'd like to know what the ingredients are.

It is actually pastry creme (half whipped cream, half custard , folded together)

Its custard. Like a sweet pudding, thicker!!!

a very thick, should-be rich, custard, a lot of times with a slight lemon flavor

It is a cooked custard. milk, sugar, thickener, cook, stir. cool and fill
