if you're supposed use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8 ounces of water, why do the store bought tea bags look like they have so little in them? i made coffee in the same way (1 tbsp per 8oz., or whatever caribou's directions were) and it was disgusting.

i have some tea that someone brought me from hong kong. i was going to make it, but i don't have the standard tea equipment. can i put the water in a coffee maker, add the tea leaves, steep, then strain through a coffee filter or some other straining device?

please give directions (quantity of tea per ounce/measuring cup of water) for weak tea. i don't think i would like 1tsp/8oz. it seems too strong. (i like the taste of store bought tea bag tea).
