No. All of my children have eaten raw potatoes and they're all fine.
If it's green, it's best not to eat it raw or cooked. The tomato looking things that grow at the top of the potato plant are poisonous.

Actually, potatoes are toxic cooked or not. They contain a toxic substance called solanine, also present in deadly nightshade. It is estimated that a person can eat about 3 milligrams of solanine per kilo of body weight, so a 70 kg adult would have to eat about 2 kilos of potatoes and even then the most likely outcome would be a bad stomach ache rather than death. You can remove most of the solanine content by removing the skin. The green in old potatoes is only chlorophyll but indicates the presence of higher levels of solanine. Solanine is not destroyed by cooking though, so it doesn't make any difference whether they're raw or cooked.

No, eating a raw potato is like eating an apple or an orange...there's nothing poisonous in doing so.

well in the skin there is a acid that isnt all that good for you but for domestic potatoes no. for actual YAMS (not sweet potatoes) take off the skin or you could get some sort of poisoning.

No, it's OK, but a good question because potatoes, like tomatoes, are related to deadly nightshade.

Not at all. Since you've cut it...you might as well use it in case you get burned. Very useful. Also, if you have brand new shoes with leather soles...ru the cut potato underneath..and you won't slide anymore. Try it, very effective!
