I have to take a sandwich to work everyday and i am getting sooo bored of the usual tuna, cheese, ham sandwiches. Can anyone give me a recipe for a tasty, interesting sandwich.

Chicken, roasted bell pepper, and fontana cheese

Roast beef with tomato & horseradish-dijon-mayo

Tomato, cheese, and basil leaves

Chicken, bacon, jalapeno havarti

Here's my own recipe:

The Unbeatable Beef Sandwich – from Mom!

Many people do not seem to realize that the layering of the ingredients is extremely important in the taste of any sandwich. I can put all the mayonnaise in the world on the bread, but if the turkey is tasteless or dry, the sandwich is disappointing.Try the following:

2 slices Texas Toast -style whole grain or 12 Grain with Oats and Honey bread.
1 Tablespoon spreadable pure butter
Real Mayonnaise (never Miracle or Salad Whip)
Dijon Mustard (only Dijon - none other)
Thin slices of rare to medium rare steak
4 thin slices of tomato
3 thin slices of Vidallia onion
Crisp inner rib of Romaine Lettuce
2 large basil leaves
salt
fresh cracked black pepper

Spread your bread with butter, both slices.
Spread each slice with 1 teaspoon real mayonnaise.
Place Basil leaves on one slice
Place beef slices on basil
Spread a good dollop of mayonnaise & Dijon (only Dijon!) on beef slices
Layer tomato slices on turkey
Put Salt and cracked pepper on tomato - don't be shy!
Layer onion slices on tomato
Layer Romaine lettuce on onion
Put second slice of bread on top, press lightly, and enjoy!

For a treat, put crisp bacon slices (3 slices per sandwich) on top of Beef after you put mayo/dijon dollop on top.

Steak Sandwich

1 large strip, round, or shell sirloin steak, weighing between 12 ounces and 1 pound

1/2 t. coarsely ground black pepper

Salt to taste

2-3 T. oil

2 T. chopped onion

4 oz. crimini mushrooms, cleaned and chopped

1/2 t. thyme

1 loaf French or Italian bread, or 1 Vienna loaf

3-4 T. prepared mustard

Trim any excess fat from the steak. Sprinkle both sides with pepper and salt, then brush with a tablespoon of the oil. Heat a cast-iron or nonstick pan and sear the steak about 2 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan. Cook the onion for 2 minutes in the remaining oil, then add the chopped mushrooms, sprinkling them with the thyme and a little salt. Cook, stirring, until they have softened. If the mixture dries out, add a tablespoon or so of water.

Cut a large piece of bread about 1 inch longer than the steak. (If you're using a Vienna loaf, you may not need to cut it at all.) Slice it lengthwise through the middle, leaving an uncut edge as a hinge. Spread both cut sides of the bread liberally with mustard. Now place the steak on the bottom half and scatter the mushroom mixture on top. Fold the top half of the bread down. Wrap the sandwich in two layers of plastic wrap. Take a long piece of string and tie the sandwich up tightly as if it were a parcel, knotting the string in several places. Put the sandwich on a plate and place another plate on top of it. Now weight it down with either cans of food or a bowl filled with water. Leave it for 8 hours or overnight in the refrigerator or other cold place. When you rescue it from the weights, it will be firm and flat. For serving, unwrap it and slice it on the diagonal so you have several strips, each about 3/4 to 1 inch wide. Arrange these on a platter with a bowl of relish or chutney to accompany them

I have no idea what this is called but I love it:

Grated hard cheese, nice strong cheddar works well, about 1 cup
Grated fresh apple, about 1/2 cup
Chopped walnuts, about 1/4 cup
Lea & Perrins Worcester sauce, a few shakes
Mayonnaise

Mix all the ingredients together with enough mayo to bind. You can change the amounts to your own taste, I like it with carrot instead of apple. Mix and match whatever you want. I thought it sounded gross until i tried it. It's my favourite filling. It will keep in the fridge for a day or two but the apple will go brown.

Sure.
Take cauilflower, potatoes, onions, chillies, cilantro, tomatoes, some red chilli pwder, and cilantro powder ( called as dhania pwder).
Make shapes of cauliflower, as tiny as a small cube, and so with the potatoes, tomatoes..
Heat some oil, enough to cook the potatoes first, slightly brown, followed by the cauliflower, onions. After 5-7 minutes add the tomatoes.. and the rest of the spices. Dont add any water because all the vegetables will release their own water, and dont forget to put a lid so that the steam will cook the vegetables.
U can use this as a filling in ur sandwiches, or have them as a side dish with plain white rice.
U can add other vegetables too based on the vegetables available, such as carrot, capsicum...etc

I love pastrami with sauerkraut, provolone, and russian or french dressing. If you toast the bun first, and drain the sauerkraut, it's not too mushy. It's a reuben sandwich.

Also, wraps are nice to take to work. Cream cheese with italian seasonings go well with ham or turkey on a whole wheat tortilla. OR You can cram in almost two cups of spring lettuce into a wrap, then add some tasty cheese and drizzle a bit of olive oil.

Olivada spread for a muffaletta! Or how about a fish sandwich? PB&J? There's a lot of good new jams and jellies out there. Bing cherry is my fave. How about a BLT? Can you make anything out of leftovers, like a steak and cheese? Or a fajita or two? Or make up a huge batch of something and put it in a tupperware the night before. (Assuming you have a microwave at work.) Shake it up a little bit with different breads too.

I must admit when I first learned of this recipe I almost gagged thinking of it, but it turned out to now be one I crave. Give it a try before dismissing it, you might be surprised.

Soooooooo simple : 1 cup chopped walnuts, 1 cup chopped green olives (with or without pimento), 1/2 c. to 3/4 c. mayo.(depending on how spreadable you desire it) stir and spread on your favorite bread or toast.

You can also change the type of nuts used for a different taste ! MMMmmmm YUM ! : )

How about a pita sandwich.

Fill a pita bread with diced tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese and a nice dressing.
