Tescos are not open 24/7 365 coz those of us who work there do have homes to go to every now and again. As far as superstores and extras go they are open from 8am Monday until 10pm Sat, 10-4 Sun. We are closed on Xmas Day, Boxing Day and Easter Sunday because by law we are not allowed to open. Some stores are open on New Years Day but not all. Express and Metro stores do not open 24 hours. Express stores also have limited openning on Boxing Day. We have doors on so we can shut up shop and go home, after all, there is more to life than shopping!!

Most Tescos only started opening 24 hours a day recently so if it an older tesco then the locks were always there. Also it would probably be difficult to get doors with no locks!

Well pretty obvious really - because prior to the Sunday Opening Laws, Tesco, like all other shops/stores, used to close on Sundays, as well as the fact they weren't 24 hours. Even now not ALL stores are 24 hours so the locks on the doors were there from before. Pretty obvious really but good question nevertheless. :)

Because the trading laws do not allow them to be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Currently 24 hour stores are restricted to Monday 8am to Saturday 10pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
Also stores over a certain size are not allowed to trade on Easter Sunday, Christmas and New Year Days.
There is currently a suggestion that the law will change but it will still require some closure.
Hope this helps.

the amount of customers that always want to argue about sunday opening hours must have been asleep for the last 40 years, extra stores close at midnight saturday then open at 10.00am untill 4pm, SUNDAY TRADING LAW and open again at 1 minute past midnight monday morning. thats why tescos have locks on there doors

Legally they aren't allowed to be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a years because they have to close for Christmas day. So it is probably for the one day a year, ha ha ha.

young miss, you pose a good question although i should point out as politely as society dictates. tesco does not open 24/7/365. they do close for our lords birth and the new year. think about this, a fat retired diabetic needs tescos for gainful employment without tescos the streets would be full of spent insulin needles.

Because they're not 24/7/356; they only open all day from Monday through Friday, extra hours on Saturday and a few hours on a Sunday.
