At a wedding reception place we were served a lovely garden salad. The garnish on top was long curled strands of carrot and beetroot. What is the name of the utensil/machine used to make this.

I've just got back from holiday, the only things in the fridge are a rhubarb crumble and a cherry pie, both 10 days past their sell by date. I can't be arsed to go to Tesco's, which one should I eat?. I can mask the evil taste with some instant custard.

Should I peel mushrooms? I mean when they get a bit old - still edible, but a bit battered. I never have but then I'm a culinary slattern. The way I see it is they're going to be cooked so who's to know? What do you do?
