Yes, however, it may change the consistency of what you are making. Also, the color may not turn out as you expect, depending what you mix it with. Also, be careful about not adding too much. My son decided to "invent a recipe". He added a whole bottle of green food coloring. The entire family pooped green for three days. No kidding!

yes you can but keep in mind that when creating your specific color that you may need to create a mixture of a couple of other colors to get that desired color that you want.
When heat hits the food or cold hits the food the color tend to change a bit

don't know why not. But you need to realize that if you put red into the food--you may not get red. Depends on the present color of the food.
