No, they aren't like nachos, but you sure could put it on nachos. Would make for an interesting and new combo.

1 1/2-2 lbs ground chuck
1/2 cup fine chopped yellow onions
1/2 cup fine chopped green peppers
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon dried mustard
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 (26 ounce) bottle catsup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
8-10 hamburger buns

Brown the ground chuck and onion in a large deep skillet.
Drain the grease from the skillet as well as possible.
Add the green pepper to the meat and onion and continue cooking until the green pepper is soft.
Add all the remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.
Serve on buns.

Sloppy Joes are a loose meat hamburger.

The hamburger is usually ground round and is cooked in a frying pan with a tomato base sauce. Over the years I have had it made in a variety of different ways. Sometimes, barbque sauce was added to the tomato sauce along with brown sugar. Other times, onion was added. It all depends on who is making it.

Anyway, it get's name from the way you eat it. The loose meat in the sauce goes on a hamburger bun and then you eat it. Usually, it ends up dripping all over on the plate, which is why it's called a "Sloppy Joe!"

Sloppy Joe is ground beef cooked and then some type of tomato sauce is poured over the meat. Then make sandwhiches out of it. Put on a bun and it eat. Manwhich or Del Monte is good from the can.

Sloppy Joe as in the horrible meaty food is American in origin, I much prefer eating an apple and wearing the Aussie sloppy joe!

This is so funny, I never knew it was a meal in USA... in Australia it's still part of clothing, normally a top part of track suit, or a pullover sweater...

No, it's not. A sloppy is hamburger, ketchup, and sometimes brown sugar all mixed together. You put it in a hamburger bun. Sounds gross but it's really good.

No, its hamburger meat with a tomato based sauce. Sort of like spaghetti sauce, but with different spices. People eat them over hamburger buns. Personally, I don't eat them.
