Singles & Dating - 20 November 2006

I would be curious to hear your reactions to this quote from a current article (called " Dating Is Good for the Soul") by Donna Freitas in Yahoo Personals:

"As with divine love, going out on a date is like an invitation to mystery: the mystery being both the other person, as well as the depths within ourselves we have yet to discover. Dating encourages us to take leaps of faith into the unknown, to invest ourselves, even for a short time, in the idea of a relationship, in opening ourselves up to someone new, and in presenting ourselves in our best form."

And if you agree with Freitas' perspective, then I have a further question. If dating is good for the soul, then might it be it be a good idea for some married people to date (in the context of mutual consent, as in swinging or polyamory)? Or is it always best that married people simply give up this sort of exploration/adventure? Why?

I've told an ex how I feel about him and he's adamant that we are never getting back together, I feel like my life has been ripped apart I've only lived for the past 5 years in the hope that one day we could have a romantic reunion and he has broke my heart again.

it was her 19th birthday 11-17 she knows i like her i told her 2 weeks ago than she said she just need a friend now. she just got out a 2 year relationship were they were going to marry but her ex broke it off cause he was unhappy. they been apart for maybe 2-4 months. we had a little to drink not much about 2 shots when it started she told me to cuddle her which i have done before. than she told to mess with her neck lick it and stuff that lead to making out. after a good half hour she gets up and says sorry. she not ready right. that what she sorry for right? what should i do now? what should i say? when should call?

he says he needs time and he will have everything figure out in a little while but he wants me to wait and accused me of cheating on him even though i didnt but they same day we went on a break he was with his x. i dont know anymore i love him but what do i do. he says he wants to be more then friends when i told him to go date his x he said he didnt want to, that he wants me he just wants a break rite now. he ran all around this last weekend with other people and he is only 22, but i want us to work, what do i do to make him really miss me and that he might lose me. i dont want anyone else?!?!? Ok So I like know a lot of girls who are dating guys that do drugs and they tell me"im so scared that one day he'ill hit me"etc..
But I also know lots of girls who date guys who DONT DO DRUGS and the guys reaction is completly different they arnt afraid of their girlfriends(Hitting them Whatever....)But why??

Ok, so itz been a while since ive came on here. This weekend my hun and i were having a great time. We hung out Friday ALL day..then saturday i had some stuff to do. I ended up at his house Saturday night cuase he wouldnt stop blowing up my phone. IT WAS AWSOME! until he asked me to give him head!..now usually I wouldnt hesitate right!.but he and i are not exclusive.I KNOW he is not seeing anyone else. (he has no time hes with me 24/7) but still i feel like there are certain things you do with someone whom u know is comited to u. i hope im not wrong!. so I said NO! of course and we were horsing around. then he said please and i started laughing ( mind you im the type of girl that laughs a lot when shes nervous) so he turned around and he looked kind of upset. then he takes his pants off!!..i started laughing histerically i mean not at HIM! but just at the situation.

Ok well my mom is against girls liking eachother (though her brother is gay) and some of my friends thinks its wierd and act different and seem afraid im gonna like them to. Thought I met a wonderful man, and one week into the relationship, I expressed how wonderful I felt about myself for the first time in a long time, and that I had begun writing again. He wanted to read some of what I wrote, and I said that it may be too soon into the relationship. I had written about us, the fire he ignited inside of me, the hopes for the future, him being the one...etc. Needless to say, when he left, he looked like a deer in headlights - this was Thursday...its now Monday. He just called, apologized for not contacting me, he had an emergency out of town, his cell got cut off, my number was in the cell that got cut off, etc. Do I believe him? Do I get my hopes up again after moping and feeling used all weekend? (I actually cried over this guy) I don't have alot of experience in relationships, so any advice would be helpful.

long story short: my on/off ex of 1.5 yrs (we were serious @ one point) finally broke it off and found someone new.this was right after it was announced that i found someone new.we both rebounded and that was obvious.however when i broke up with the rebound guy and went to my ex's apt and showed up crying. he told me that he was in a new relationship and didn't really care and didn't really wanna hang out anymore. and then i told him that i wanted time away from him and he was devastated and said: "nono let's be friends! how about fri?"... which confused me. but nevertheless, i didn't talk to him for 5 days and he told our mutual friend that he was depressed but didn't know why. i got worried and gave in, and ended up having dinner with him. he hugged me and said: "i missed you SOO much." he also kept staring at me and said i looked good. then when we went to hang out with a mutual friend, he kept bringing up the past and calling me his old petnames. i still like him. what is he doing?
