In most states the legal age of consent (or the age that they can willingly make decisions that suit their best interest) is 17. So, depending on your state, you should be alright. This brings to question a point of interest. We all remember being in high school. When we were seniors we went for the sophomores and juniors right? Well, in college it was very obvious that those same girls were off limits (and for good reason!). So this would be one of those gray areas. Yes she is in college, a place where young adults go to learn hot to be adults and get an education. But, she is still pretty young. So, what do you do?

If she is wise beyond her years and mature enough to handle a relationship. I would say go for it. However, take a few things into consideration. One, you are 21, you can go to bars and clubs and go out drinking and do the whole college bar/party scene. She, on the other hand, being only 17, most certainly can not. So for this you need to decide if you are mature enough to handle dating someone who can not do the same things you can. This may sound trivial now, but trust me, I had a hard time dating a 20 year old girl when i was 21, and she was hot as all hell.

I was 17 when I met my husband. He would not come near me, even though I had told him that I liked him. Six months after I turned 18 we started dating for a long time and have now been married 8 years. If you can, just wait until she is eighteen if her age is a problem for you, if she is worth it you can wait.

Age has less to do with birthdate than you think. If she's too young, you will know after a while of talking to her. If legality is the issue, din't get frisky... or don't get caught. I think it's all bull anyay, consentual is consentual, period. I got a thing for a guy who is 30. I am legal though, but again that's bull. Anyway, I am older than most eighteen year olds, and's he's younger than most 30 year olds, it's about worth a try with her, I'd say. Also, don't give up on somthng good for somthing stupid like age.

If the situation, you told is right, then it wud be much much better if you let her complete her education. After all she has got parents, there wud her brothers and sisters too. Instead of looking and dropping her, if you remain in contact with her parents you wud be regarded as a respectable person. She wud be having a good moral character.
But you start hanging here and and then --, she will be looser, as that is not a right way. Its immoral, in ethical and indecent behavior.
Now its up to you to follow a proper and right way or move thru short cuts.

BE CAREFUL!! Remember, the parents, and the law are the ones that press charges, and not the girl. Although she sounds like a winner, you two may have to just wait a while before becoming "more than just friends". I also suggest that you consult with the local laws also. You will be able to get a better answer if you talk to a school dean or counselor. I wish you two the best.

As you become older, age becomes irrelevant.. meaning useless unless she is 16 of course.. she is legal she is a big girl and can take care of her ownself now.. she is in college at that age so definetely a little ahead of the game.. if she is mature enough at this age .. go for it... no reason to question yourself due to her being 17... when i was that age most people told me they thought I was 21 due to how mature I was, what I wanted out of life etc.. Its all about their personality, how they act etc if they become their age.. go for it.. take it slow cuz she is still young and probably hasn't experienced much as far as dating or maybe starting to date.. It may scare her away if you are too much.. take her in with open arms.. treat her like a lady regardless of age and I wish you the best of luck!

PS if this helps I was 23 and my husband was 31 if that helps and we are doing great and HAPPILY MARRIED :)

You guys arent too far along when it comes to the age difference and Im sure the majority of people wouldnt mind you guys dating due to the fact that she has started college. If your really feeling this chick you should consider it. If her maturity level is up to date than go for it. If your having doubts about it you might want to not get too involved. Because if you do the age issue might effect your relationship with her. As I always say "follow your heart".

I don't think she is, at that age. There are many others who have had relationships much younger and with a much older man at that!! What matters most is the way she is thinking right now. If you find her mature enough to be in a relationship, i say, go for it man!! A 4 year gap in a relationhship is pretty much common.

IF you live in a state where it is okay, most states if you are 16 you are able to consent to sex other its 17. I am 17 years old and my husband is 22 (i got married at 16) i dont think that there is anything wrong with you to dating, there should be no problem for you two dating and stuff.
