Thought I met a wonderful man, and one week into the relationship, I expressed how wonderful I felt about myself for the first time in a long time, and that I had begun writing again. He wanted to read some of what I wrote, and I said that it may be too soon into the relationship. I had written about us, the fire he ignited inside of me, the hopes for the future, him being the one...etc. Needless to say, when he left, he looked like a deer in headlights - this was Thursday...its now Monday. He just called, apologized for not contacting me, he had an emergency out of town, his cell got cut off, my number was in the cell that got cut off, etc. Do I believe him? Do I get my hopes up again after moping and feeling used all weekend? (I actually cried over this guy) I don't have alot of experience in relationships, so any advice would be helpful.

Well, I don't know if he's lying or not, all you can really do now is to see how things go now. He may have had a weird moment and wasn't sure what he wanted, so he took some space. Over the next couple weeks, it will be more apparent of whether that weird little break gave him a chance to get his thoughts together about you or not.

I wouldn't freak out over this, unless it started to happen more regularly.

You need to slow down. You've known a man 7 days and are crediting him with saving your soul?? Sorry, but there is no relationship- he's a man you dated. You freaked him out. Believe him if you want to, but stop pinning all your hopes and dreams and emotions and future on a man you hardly know. Channel your romantic notions into your writing and keep it to yourself.
