Friends - March 2007

I have a co worker and he's new I would like to try to be friends with him because all the other people I work with are older. But he seems shy and quiet on our breaks he goes out to smoke and I don't smoke so I don't go along but on our lunch he is on the phone and we don't have much time to talk what should I do to get a possible friendship started. And about how long would it take because we see eachother like 5 days a week.

who is extremely annoying. if I like something, she rolls her eyes, if she likes something, i have to like it too. she goes to my church and has a really nice family so i can't exactly hate her. What should I do? ( no stupid answers please)

My friend asked his big friend who he said he's not attracted to, Martha, to bring a second friend so it can be a double date. My friend said after hanging up, "I'll get the friend, you can have Martha" I wondered what he thought I was. It really bothered me because he didn't act like I was going to be upset either. I did feel like he didn't respect my feelings, because he just dumped a girl onto me that HE didn't want because she's not attractive. I just felt like he used me to his advantage and he knew he could do it because I am a shy person.

my bf and i have an apartment and when our friend phil left his due to an argument we let him move in.
everything was great til this past week. in the past week he's gotten really drunk and forcefully kissed me, twice, i told him to stop the first time then told my bf the second time and he was angry but excused the fact he was drunk... i think our friend mac that was over was more upset over it than my bf.
than last night we asked phil to turn his stereo down a bit cuz we were trying to watch a movie and couldn't hear it... he got pissed and threw the stereo outside in the rain... it's not his stereo. then came out yelling at my bf saying he shouldn't have to turn the radio down cuz he doesn't tell us to turn the computer down when we're listening to music... which we would if he asked.
he's also recently picked up a drug habit that makes him sketchy and last night he left never came back.
my bf wants to give him another chance but i don't... is this wrong???

This is a question for people in relationships. Does it bother your partner if you have a close opposite sex friend even though the friendship is completely platonic. (this is assuming that you are hetersexual; reverse the question if you are homosexual) To explain, my husband always gets one of my close male friend's name wrong and, although he is very polite to my friend's face, he makes rude and crude guestures to me if I am on the phone which really irritates me.

and did NOTHING WRONG! She moved from the Northeast to the South and feels that maybe she made a wrong decision in moving. She has been unlawfully terminated from her jobs!! She has never been fired from a job before EVER! One job fired her because they didn't like her personality..the other one fired her because she got another job, etc...What can I do to help her...she wants to move because it is not working out!!

We want to start a filmmaking group but we got two guys who are dominant personalities. I may be shy and quiet but I think I have good ideas. They seem to be in control because they hog up all the time talking and when I try to speak they just talk some more. I can't just yell to be heard so how do I assert myself?

My friend stole this precious family crewel embrodiery picture that my deceased mother made. He has never admitted it. He was the only one who had access to the house. I still have tried to forgive him but still have very strong resentment towards him. I have been a friend to his elderly mother and himself. but I feel it is getting too difficult to keep pretending that I am over it when I will never be until he admits the theft or returns the picture.. it seems like the next day we make up. Whenever we hang out though we find something to argue about and it gets pretty intense. We've been best friends for almost four years but the arguing only started six months ago. Would it make a difference witht the fact that he's a guy and I'm a girl? I met my best friend Amanda about 1 year ago. She was about 5 months pregnant when I met her. We became good friends pretty quickly. I have always been there for her through dropping everything I am doing to help her when she's upset, taking her places, and giving her advice which she never listens to. She has since had her baby and has broken up with her boyfriend and moved farther away. She has gone into a kind of party phase and doing stupid things. I get mad when she tells me about it because I think she needs to focus on her baby. Everytime we talk I have to listen and console her but THE SECOND I start talking about me she changes the subject to something about her. This seems one sided but she's all I have really. It depresses me so bad. I think she just uses me but I don't know how to fix it.

She's like a sister to me and I’m worried about her. She has 2 jobs, 4 kids and a husband who won’t help; he just criticizes her and the kids and sometimes verbally threatens them also, and he spends over their budget. She is past being exhausted and so depressed that she cries every time we talk. I have offered help in every form I can think of and she always says no, it’s enough for me just to listen. Any suggestions?

loook my life hasnt been that great and last year i started to cut and welll to day i was at school and my best friend and i were playing around and she fell (she had hurt her knee and had surgery )she hurt it again like when she had fallen her kneee poped and now every one is making it seem like its mmy fault that what hhappened to her was my fault the reason my mom doesnt love me is all my fault and i cant take it
