I have a co worker and he's new I would like to try to be friends with him because all the other people I work with are older. But he seems shy and quiet on our breaks he goes out to smoke and I don't smoke so I don't go along but on our lunch he is on the phone and we don't have much time to talk what should I do to get a possible friendship started. And about how long would it take because we see eachother like 5 days a week.

You start talking to him and find something you have in common with him. This make take one to two weeks. A friendship is worth it.

Just spark up a conversation, like maybe about a movie or tv show, or talk about places you like to eat or something like that. Just don't over-do it right away, because if he is shy, you may scare him off with too much talk. Maybe start a conversation with, "So, how do you like it here?" OH, and for the people who had the rude answers, maybe you should avoid answering the question instead of being ignorant.

If you dont smoke, and its nice outside, you can go out there, like you are just getting fresh air, (as long as youre not breathing in the smoke, then that would defeat the purpose)... Strike up a conversation about work, ask him what he thinks about working there...

I don't smoke but go out on smoke breaks. But keep in mind there are some people who prefer to keep their work lives strictly work.

Dude your a guy, try to think like one....Maybe he is not into hanging out or he could just be shy becaus ehe just started working there. Give it some time and he will loosen up eventually. Don't try and force him to be your friend....that will only make things worse!

Don't force the issue and let it happen.... say Hi when you pass... make a little small talk... step out for some fresh air
(upwind of the smoke) etc... eventually he will open up...

Um are you really desperate for a friend? Or just a work buddy. If you have to force a friendship it isn't meant to be sorry!

You should invite him to join you in an activity outside of the workplace. That way you'll get more quality time to get to know one another.

i think of the etiquette is, in case you have dedicated to exhibiting it greater advantageous than a month, then you definately are required, by means of regulation, to have that up till the little one visits returned. Then, you need to declare "my, you even look cuter now than you probably did in this image.." You hand the image to the little one and he/she on the instant places it of their mouth and you may now throw it away..
