A guy I used to know pursued a 'trophy' girflriend--you know, a looker, arm-candy, hard-to-get. They went out for 2 years, broke up but he kept her on as a 'good-buddy-platonic-gal-just-a-friend.' He later married another girl, but trophy-girl stays in his life. This has been going on for the 12 years of the marriage.

He drops the house-work, leaves his family on trophy-gal's beck-and-call, to do something like fix the settings on her computer, listen to her woes about her ex-hubby, or just listen to her gab, or "help" (= does it himself) her move furniture.

If you ask me, he still has a thing for her, and it's very generous--or foolish--of his wife to tolerate him 'polishing off his trophy' along side their marriage. I say they are headed for trouble.

Question being: is it okay to keep former significant others 'in the picture' after you have married?

I'm in a "awww"ing mood as you can tell. Don't you just love talking about things that make you feel all soft and happy?

The other day my best friend's boyfriend told me that he wanted me instead of her because I was more mature. They have only been dating for 1 month maybe. He is so cute but I don't want to hurt her. She is so in love with him already and I don't think she would believe me if I told her. Even if she did she would still find a way to be mad at me, so should I go out with him and let her know or should I just give it up. I REALLY NEED HELP, I don't want to loose a best friend over a boy.

i had this great friendship with this wonderful guy, and then things got complicated but both of us didn't want a relationship so things were confusing for a while, and then i was gone for a month and he was busy with work, and things seemed cold when i got back, and we didn't end up talking for another month, until i texted him telling him i missed him, and he texted back to meet up and chat....things went well, mainly a lot of catching up... but i'm not sure if he just did it because he felt bad for me, or if he really did miss me as well and wanted to see me. in the past, he always would say he'd "call me" (and sometimes he would, sometimes not) but this time, he said, "call me sometime"...i dont understand if this basically means he's not really interested in ever seeing me again unless i want to see him, and give him a call???

So at some point, i may have kids, but so far, my main worry, is having them in this country.. The school system sucks, eg sweedish/japanese or even american, are so much better. And i mean, 2 years for GCSE's try 6 months. This whole bringing in new laws at midnight on a sunday, like this new car seat thing, what the hell. Having to let a health visitor in.. Most of them say having an animal with a young child is dangerous.. Most english kids seem like wild animals, who watch tv, beg for electronics, and hang on street corners, breaking things, whilst having a cig....

They cant have respect for the government, the teachers have given up, nobody can disiplin them.

We have no control over things like going to war, or laws imposed, or the millions of pounds of tax spent stupidly....

TV, is teaching a slutty, violent, egotistical, yet frightened attitude..

I really cant justify having kids in england, maybe canada... Maybe even the USA, and i really dont want to live there

As shallow & superficial as this will sound but i just want to know your thoughts on this. I am 24 & in a long term relationship with my boyfriend and its pretty much marriage material. The thing is that I am not really physically attracted to him but I think I do love him..I mean, what is love really??..I think the reason I'm staying is because I don't really want to go back into all that dating/single drama again. And also he is financially very well off which is something i guess all women want.. I don't want to be worried/stressed about bills/morgage payments etc in the future. I don't think I believe in love. I think if you stay with a person long enough you will grow to like (love) them..I know i sound cynical/pessimistic/stupid even..but thats how i feel. But I do have brothers who I would give my life for..I guess thats Love..When you will give your own happiness for another? What are your thoughts/advice on this? Anyone in the same situation? Or have been where I've been?

Theres an item on Yahoo news that says we should encourage our children to drink in moderation and be responsible. Like the continent, we should let kids consume a glass of wine at meal times. This is in an effort to control teenage binge drinking.

I have to say I agree. I have given my daughter beer at christmas (no, not a pint. Just a small glass) because she's been curious, and actually enjoys it. I've also taught her about the effects of alcohol, what it do'es to you when you are drunk. Also how dangerous it can be.

She is also well aware that when she eventually go'es clubbing, she should buy bottles, keep them with her at all times and dance with her thumb over the open neck. To dissuade Mr Rohynol, and the phantom drink snatchers. ha

Seriously though, do you think children could do with abit of parent advice and interaction, since I remember 2 girls died, after drinking a bottle of vodka between them, having no idea that too much could actually poison you?

some background info: i have a MA in psychology and was planning to go to a PhD program, but did not get in. The only job I could find was as an administrative assistant, and the woman who hired me (and is now my boss) was very concerned that my interests are academic and that i would leave really fast. Anyway, I had to obviously twist the truth a bit in the interview, as i was desperate to get a job) and told her I was looking for something long term.
Now, the research center where i did my MA research has a full time job opening, and i know if I apply they will give me the position. I dont like my current job, its boring and unfilfilling...but my boss is always making comments to me about how im in it for the long-term and making me feel guilty. I've only been here for 1.5 months, but i feel ready to leave...but i feel extremely guilty. what should i do?? :( I plan on applying to PhD programs again for next year.

My boyfriend says he loves me so much all the time and he shows me love like I've never felt before. My problem is he asked me today if I knew that he loved me and I said of course i do but like 2 hours later he sent me a text and said he was confused about our relationship. I asked him to call me and he said it would be better if we just text. So I asked him if he was breaking up with me and he said no he's just explaining his feeling twords our relationship and he's been feeling this way for like 2 months. I don't understand because we have had the most amazing time together over the last two months. I mean really truly amazing. I've known him for 9 months and it has been the best time of my life. I'm happier than I've ever been and i know he's happy too, the way he acts to me and the things he says and does can't be fake, trust me. So i don't know whay he's telling me this if he doesn't want to break up and he loves me then whats so confusing? Does anyone have similar feeling

Being in love? Revenge? Winning a trophe? When you move out of your parents house? First kiss? Eating your first Big Mac?

Well I guess I want to ask is if you bought a girl a toe ring and she said she likes it, but when you see her she never wears it. Does that mean she hates the ring? If so why didnt she just tell me that she hated it?

that I didn't know was there). My friend keeps saying, "I really should pay half of that" - but I never see the money. I don't feel I want to take any from her (because that's my kind nature), but she now and again says "Yes, I should give you something towards that, as we went together". Why does she say this and not do anything about it?

Personally, I hate it! But I would like others opinion, cause my fiance smokes it every now and then, and i hate it, and he told me he would stop, but i know he still does it behind my back. When i catch him, we fight! How do I get him to stop? Or am i being unfair?

i have this feeling that my fiance is dishonest! I can't check his cellphone, because he deletes all his messages. And i have this feeling that he does things behind my back, I have my reasons why. Is there anyway that I can find out? The only communication he has with other people is with his cellphone. I just can not find anything on there ever, cause of the damn delete button!
