In my half century on this planet, I've found my view of what I hear from my children has changed. Sure, they say they love me, whenever I talk to them, but at my age, I begin to wonder about my accomplishes in life. On New Year's night, my first born called me to say that she had been Googling my name. She knew I had done some things in my life, but after seeing all the hits, she called me to say how proud she was to be my daughter.
When your children give you something, for your birthday or Father's Day, do you prefer something sentimental that shows their love for you, or would you rather hear from them "why" they appreciate you?
