Family & Relationships - 4 August 2006

I have really cared about this man for years and just recently he has told me he has felt the same. It has taken so long for him to tell me as he was my tutor in College and he waited till I had finished studying before admitting his feelings. I have had long relationships in the past but I have never felt this way about anyone before. He is 46 and I am 24, that does not matter to me as you cannot help who you fall for. One problem is that he has a girlfriend (yes this sounds like one big cliche, but my feelings are real), they are having problems and he doesnt think it is fair to just leave her like that as they are living together. He is very enigmatic and I have no way of getting intouch with him, he can only get intouch with me, which means I don't hear from him in weeks. I understand though as he has alot of responsibilities to deal with i.e. 2 kids. Does anyone think there is a future? We get on so well.

How soon is too soon to get engaged?

my friend....(well we used to be really good friends don't know what you wanna call it anymore) but she got engaged to this guy after knowing him for a month.....i think that is way too soon....what do you guys think?

and they plan on getting married next year sometime and he has a kid. (nothing with him having a kid but i'm not sure if thats why she started seeing him in the first place....but couldn't that get in the way?)

i mean if it was one of our guy friends from school than i can see nothing wrong with getting engaged after a month but she didn't know this guy before this.

1 month knowing each other...

i mean i got engaged after 6 months dating but i was friends with the guy for over 4 years before...

alot of us have tried to tell her that its way too soon....but she just won't listen...we support her and everything but she doesn't see it the way we do..

her and her best friend arn't even friends anymore because she thought she wasn't supporting her

Am I a hypocrite?

I caught my 17 year old son having sex with his stepmom a few days ago, and I'm really torn up about this. I want to punish him but how can I judge him for doing something I do semi-regularly? Isn't that the definition of a hypocrite?

How do you get your best friend to stop wanting to be like you?

My best friend is also my roommate. Everything I do, she does. I signed up to go back to college and she did it, even the same exact courses. If I go to bed, she goes to bed. If I do something silly, she tries to do it. I am getting so aggravated. What can I do to make her stop?

I am 27 with a 5 yr old daughter. My Bf who I have been with for a year is 37 with a 8 yr old son of his own.?

My daughter & I have our own issues that we need to deal with because of her behavior, it's hard to be a single mother & I have been the only consistant thing in her life for the last 5 years, her father is not in the picture unless it's good for him, so I have stopped letting him take her because he can't help me support her and cant take care of himslef, I am thinking he still has a drug problem, can't hold a job.

So Bf & I don't get may breaks from her & her & I tend to fight about things more than being a loving mother and daughter team, she test me constantly which is something kids do. My current b4 has a 6 month streak where he can't deal with her and I fighting & doesn't want his son to be around that, he compares our 2 kids, which is unfair, cuz his son has always had both of his parents in his life . He thinks I need help with her attitude, but dosn't seem to want to step in as a father figure. He tried for a couple days & she tested him. He couldn't take it. HELP!
