my father is the kind of person who would watch my house like a hawk and would be able to tell me every move i made if i lived next door to him. he thinks the whole world is out to get him and me both and he thinks i want to build a house and live beside him! i dont think so! although i would not want to live right next door to anyone who is related to me because i am afaraid evendually it would lead to arguements over the same type of reasons i dont want to live beside my father (they would know when i go and come and ask where i have been and that kind of thing)

It is nice to have the family nearby...but not that good. Rather be somewhere far, and visit them every now and then.

When my father first got married he lived next to his father. Grandpa was very controlling.... Dad couldn't even have his own phone. They strung a line from the "big house" to ours. Grandpa watched everything that happened, and had an opinion on all of it. My father hated that, and moved 2 miles away once he could.
When I was first married I moved into the "little house" next to my father's new "big house". Knowing how hard it was for him, Dad bent over backwards not to interfere, not to control, etc. It was just family close together. Worked great for two years, till I moved off the farm.
So... it kind of depends on who your father is, doesn't it?

It depends, I live close to my Mom and sometimes it is great, others not so. If there is a way to still have privacy then it would be fine. My family and my man's family are very close and that is a good thing...

Yeah nOooOOOOooooOOOOOo are yah crazy my dads the same way Live in the nearest iland he wouldn't find u in Man and let him down with the dad i love you but i dint really want to live near you i want to do things on my own without you breathing down my neck how can i make my own mistakes and learn from them if u to busy making shire i don't mak them i love you dad but i really don't want to live next to u

Yes, my fiancee suggested that we move back to my hometown and we did and know we are trying to purchase the home next door to them..I love my parent and they are elderly,it would be nice to be their neighbor so i can help them whwnever they need it.

no. i want to be away from them. it's not that i have against them. but i believe it will surely be a benefit for me to stand on my own and learn to live LIFE...
