I can only see one logical reason you would separate and that is if you intend to get back together one day but need your space. It is not like you are divorced where you can legally marry again; however, you are not actually married in the “marriage sense” either. I have came across women that have been separated for years, however, I am scratching my head thinking why they did not get a divorce. If I am not mistaken you have to get a divorce to get married again anyway. I guess it just does justice for my psyche to know that a person is single, divorced or widowed, however, separation makes me think they may work things out “potentially.”

Is separation a safe haven for married people to see other people without legal problems? What are all the logics of behind separation?

My boyfriend's father might have Cancer, we're all just waiting to find out the results.

I love my boyfriend and have been with him for almost two years. However, we have been fighting often *way before we found out about his dad* and he gets very disrespectful. He questions my loyalty to him and thinks I should never go out with my friends. I was planning on breaking up with him before we found out about his dad, but now I couldn't imagine breaking up with him during this difficult time. I'm wondering how long after the results should I break it off with him, I really don't want to seem insensitive.

I was at my dad's house last week. He decided to be a real parent for the first time and wanted to "talk" becaused he was "worried", but really he just bitched at me about disrespecting his wife and son. I used to get along with him, but with all the confrontations, I decided to leave. My grandparents drove me to my house (six hours). What should I do now? I feel really guilty about having fun or hanging with my step dad.

My husband is sterile by birth. Yes, he was born a male. So we have asked a friend to donate sperm. And he's gay.

So many people seem to think this is wrong of us. Not only because we know who the father is and would allow him into our child's live, like an uncle, but because our friend is gay.

Why can't our family, friends, and co-workers just accept our decision to have a child and be happy for us?

And then when they are older, have kid(s) and baggage from a series of bad relationship do they then want a good man, a nice man, but didn't want him earlier in life? Why do women think a good man would want them now that they have all this baggage?

People always tell me I'm an asshole, in college, at work, people tell me, but I never believed them. I've always accepted that I only have the 5 friends I've been friends with since jr. high everyone else are just acquaintances. I'm gay, and I've always been told I'm very good looking, I'm always with guys after me.
My friends told me in a good way, I'm really really hard to deal with. I told them, people like me, I'm always with guys, then they told me, where are those people? I told them, around. They told me guys put up with me to try and get me, not because they like hanging out with me. So I realized guys do only come for a while, and that's it. Right now I have some guys who are being very friendly as usual, but they are just trying to get me, I don't really have much people that actually want to really hang out with me because they like my personality. Could it be that I'm a real asshole, and gay guys just put up with me, but think I'm an asshole?

My fiance just started talking to his ex-girlfriend and I'm worried. When we met he thought she was dead and recently found out she is alive. He talks to her all the time and has even stopped helping to plan our wedding. He says I have nothing to worry about because they are just old friends. However, he told he a year ago that the only reason they broke up was because he moved away. I've always trusted him, but something tells me I shouldn't were this woman is concerned. She even wants to come to our wedding so she can see him again. What do I do?

I'm just curious and something happened today that made me ponder that more than usual. Plus I would like your take on this...I'm moving on from an unrequitted crush that gave me false hope. I transferred to another job location for a couple reasons including mainly him. Today was my last day so I wrote out cards and gave him one saying that I want to leave without us having hard feelings toward each other. Well, we talked a little, told each other we weren't mad and even hugged each other. Well, then I just blurted that one of the main reasons I left was because I still had feelings for him...that was just stupid and just came out of nowhere. He just turned away from me and started typing and said okay. That's all he said...that;s the perfect example of my question. Why do guys think that word is a magic world that's supposed to fix sticky situations? The best part is a few mins later he starts joking and giving me hints about visiting. What's you take on all this? thanks!
