I'm just curious and something happened today that made me ponder that more than usual. Plus I would like your take on this...I'm moving on from an unrequitted crush that gave me false hope. I transferred to another job location for a couple reasons including mainly him. Today was my last day so I wrote out cards and gave him one saying that I want to leave without us having hard feelings toward each other. Well, we talked a little, told each other we weren't mad and even hugged each other. Well, then I just blurted that one of the main reasons I left was because I still had feelings for him...that was just stupid and just came out of nowhere. He just turned away from me and started typing and said okay. That's all he said...that;s the perfect example of my question. Why do guys think that word is a magic world that's supposed to fix sticky situations? The best part is a few mins later he starts joking and giving me hints about visiting. What's you take on all this? thanks!

Thank you for all of your input. I really appreciate it and it helped me a lot. As for some of the other questions and remarks, this guy is in his early 40's, using okay to answer this just proves that some boys really can't think of anything else when asked a question on the spot (LOL) and I'd rather be a nerd than a smart **** if you know what I mean.

Boys are stupid.
No seriously, I just read this article about brain biology (I am not an expert but....) that said that men are wired to handle stress only one problem at a time.
Example--->
Problem: Someone just said something awkward.
Solution: Say Okay and turn around. Hope the awkwardness goes away. Then make a joke.
problem solved.
After that they pretty much move on because they consider the problem handled.

its very simple gal we say that to avoide the sticky situation
see he is smart the guy end the silly conversation he didnt want to do by just saying ok.
think abt it if he would have said somthing else and u would have started to discuss this and then he would have told u in the end that he doesnt like u and u guys would have nevere be friends anymore.
and he gave u hints abt coming there was just to make u feel better coz he knows that u still feel for him , he is not coming actually.
wht he did here is just to be nice and not try to hurt u actually.
the truth is he doesnt feel that way for u but he respect ur feelings and doesnt want to hurt u or make u feel stupid .

he probably shouldnt have said that at that time. u blurted your feelings out and he just said okay like nothin happened. he might have been nervous about what u said and was speechless. the only word he could think of to say in that akward situation was "okay". hope i helped

Sounds like your expectations weren't met. Maybe he just hasn't thought about it as much as you have.
