How long after it is proven to be of no concern will they cling to their agenda?

"Washington DC – An abundance of new peer-reviewed studies, analysis, and data error discoveries in the last several months has prompted scientists to declare that fear of catastrophic man-made global warming “bites the dust” and the scientific underpinnings for alarm may be “falling apart.” The latest study to cast doubt on climate fears finds that even a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide would not have the previously predicted dire impacts on global temperatures. This new study is not unique, as a host of recent peer-reviewed studies have cast a chill on global warming fears."

if the planet is being destroyed beacuse of global warming then why don't all the world leaders join forces to come up with a solution?
is money seriously what's stopping them?
also instead of spending millions on weapons and looking for aliens they could be using that money on feeding the hungry and providing people with a better education so we could come up with solutions to the world's problems don't you think?

I'm sorry, but I don't believe this strange weather the world is having can be contributed 100% to a repeating pattern that has happened many times before. I still say what we do and how we live has affected the earth and the weather. What say you?

Can you believe we are now having volcanos erupting - one in Alaska on the verge of. The summer storms seem to be getting worse each year with more damage being done. We are having floods and droughts in places that have never had them before. I live in Buffalo, New York, and I see a definite change in weather patterns from when I was growing up. We used to get snow in October but now sometimes don't see any measurable amount until January. We used to have pretty good summer weather here. Now it's unbearably hot with no rain. We get our rain in the Fall now. Strange. I'm moving to somewhere that still has the change of seasons - if I can find such a place.

As I recall, the current warming trend is about 0.03°C per year.

As you can see from this plot:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ice_Age_Temperature.png

Immediately coming out of the last ice age 10,000 years ago, the planet warmed on the order of 8°C over a period of about 5,000 years, which is an average of about 0.0016°C per year.

If these numbers are correct, we're now warming at a rate of about 20 times faster than when we were coming out of the last ice age.

Are these numbers correct? If so, considering that we're not coming out of an ice age right now and yet we're warming 20 times faster than if we were, how can you

a) Claim this is a natural effect?
b) Deny that this is a problem?

We're about 50-80 years ahead. Climate has reduced harvests by about 40-50 percent around the world. But you are given the option of choosing all the money you'll ever need or all the food you'll ever need. But the catch with money is if you choose the cash 20 million people will die as a result. But you can use that money to invest in futuristic buildings that can withstand the elements to come. Food if that's what you choose has become more valuable than gold or diamonds but this leaves you the possibility of dying through severe weather. I'm curious to know what you would choose. Food or cash?

I took my soon to visit a Windmill in Ashford, Kent this Saturday. This was a fascinating one to one tour and the guide really new his stuff. I recommend it to everyone with small children, they even let the kids grind their own flour from corn.

However, I did find one aspect especially interesting. I was very surprised to find that the mill hand a 150 year old Oil powered engine installed. The guide explained that this was done because Wind power is very unpredictable and unreliable. No wind, no bread! The villagers at the time got sick of it.

Are we trying to chase an old technology that really never worked in the first place with wind farms? Could we really expect to run our modern 21st century infrastructure on these kind of unreliable renewables or is Nuclear the only realistic option?

Well first we had global warming. But then we had to change the name of that to global climate change to make it cover every single weather phenemeon, including bitter cold. So I thought I would take the movement to the next logical step: Stamp out Global Everything!!! All change is bad!! Let's stop it all!! First, I need your contributions. Email me and I will tell you how to contribute. Then I think I will organize a concert with aging rockers and sparse crowds. I think that should get me off to a good start! Wish me luck!!

Stop Global Everything!!!

The Observer
Climate change over the next 20 years could result in a global catastrophe costing millions of lives in wars and natural disasters.A secret report, suppressed by US defence chiefs and obtained by The Observer, warns that major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a 'Siberian' climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting will erupt across the world. The document predicts that abrupt climate change could bring the planet to the edge of anarchy as countries develop a nuclear threat to defend and secure dwindling food, water and energy supplies. The threat to global stability vastly eclipses that of terrorism, say the few experts privy to its contents. 'Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life,' concludes the Pentagon analysis. 'Once again, warfare would define human life.

I remember my great grandpa claiming, and it was later supported by both sets of grandparents, that the whole cause of our environmental problems was because they shot a rocket into space, and that put a hole in the ozone layer, and every time they launch another rocket it only makes more holes in the atmosphere.

It turns out that a LOT of really old people believe(d) these kinds of myths and insist they are true.

So that means we have a consensus.

From what I've been hearing with the climate change debate, once you have a consensus, the time for debate is over, and the time to act is NOW. And besides, what if they are wrong? Isn't it better to act responsibly on the chance that they are right?

So, does this mean we should end the space program and no longer launch satellites, because OLD PEOPLE believe that it is causing holes in the atmosphere?

I mean, WHAT IF THEY ARE RIGHT? Are we willing to take a chance with our children's future? A consensus warned us!
