I'm sorry, but I don't believe this strange weather the world is having can be contributed 100% to a repeating pattern that has happened many times before. I still say what we do and how we live has affected the earth and the weather. What say you?
Can you believe we are now having volcanos erupting - one in Alaska on the verge of. The summer storms seem to be getting worse each year with more damage being done. We are having floods and droughts in places that have never had them before. I live in Buffalo, New York, and I see a definite change in weather patterns from when I was growing up. We used to get snow in October but now sometimes don't see any measurable amount until January. We used to have pretty good summer weather here. Now it's unbearably hot with no rain. We get our rain in the Fall now. Strange. I'm moving to somewhere that still has the change of seasons - if I can find such a place.

Mr. Jello - Buffalo is 62 today? Funny, not where I am. Today is the first day however in weeks and weeks that it's not been hot and muggy. All the forecasts we've had this summer of violent T-storms have come to naught.

Joe S - You know nothing about me so don't presume anything. Opinions vary on a lot of things. I am worried about my son's future. People like you don't want to admit that we are on a roller coaster ride that is only going to get worse, no matter what the cause is.

I was born in 1963. I started to notice changes in the weather patterns, seasons, etc. since around 1980. I'm from western New York as well. What they call a blizzard now is what was common weather when I was a kid. We wouldn't ever miss a school day unless there was at minimum a foot plus of snowfall. People seem to have forgotten what it was like. Now it's a disaster every time a flake hits the ground!!! Regardless of the cause the weather has been steadily changing for many years now and it is very startling to those who take thier faces away from the puters and TV screens long enough to notice.!!!

Morgana,
I'm not sure what past weather patterns you are making your comparisons to, but I don't see much difference in the weather in Connecticut now, from when I was born in 1967.
As pointed out by others, volcanoes are absolutely not caused by weather or global warming. Volcanoes are a geologic event, not a meteorologic event. Also, I am curious what areas you believe are having floods and droughts that have never had them before? There seems to currently be flooding in Texas, Ohio and Minnesota, but these states have a constant history of flooding. See the attached links for recent disaster histories for these 3 states and you will see flooding is very common in all of these states.
You also say that you live in Buffalo, NY and that it has been unbearably hot preceding the day of your post. According to weather.com, this is simply not true. On August 21st, the high temperature in Buffalo was 68*F, 9 degrees cooler than normal and 20 degrees cooler than the record high set in 1901 (see attached link.) It also shows that the temperature has been below or at normal for several day before the 21st. The high was 68*F on the 20th, 72*F on the 19th, 71*F on the 18th and 79*F on the 17th. The average high for that period is 78*F, so Buffalo has been experiencing a cold spell. It would appear that you perceptions of current weather as well as the weather when you were growing up are being tainted by your beliefs about global warming.

Volcano eruptions are not caused by the weather. I didn't grow up in New York but I do know that they have had very hot summers for hundreds of years there, even though you may not remember them from your childhood. We have had a cooler than usual first half of summer here in Texas, although it seems to be back to normal now. But you are probably right about the late snow; that is a main effect of global warming according to the climate scientists. No climate scientists are saying there will be volcanoes as a result of global warming though. That is just impossible. Geological activity is a totally separate system of causes and effects and I have never heard any scientist try to claim that people are having any effect on geological activity at all, other than soil erosion due to poor land use practices.

yeah, things are definitely changing...
where i live (and grew up) we used to have snow every year.
we have a light dusting every few years now, later in the year than previously.
when i was little, it rained all the time, but we never had floods becaue the snow caps on the mountains didn't melt. now it rains less, but floods every year and there's hardly any snow anymore. ski resorts are closed for an extra month or so every year now.

Current temp in Buffalo is what, 62degF? That's hot? And you're scheduled to have rain all week.
Please. Global warming is just preception of what is going on. There's nothing objective at all about "global warming".

How old are you? 15?
The earth is 6 billion years old.
Any change, that you noticed, in your 15 years of life is spurious.
If you want to feel unsettled, worry about your future. Get an education and learn how to think critically.

"It's all them atom bombs what's doing it...."
Weather has been "strange" as long as mankind has been around, and nothing new is happening now.
The storms do not get worse each summer - the "more damage" you refer to is reflective of more people moving into storm-threatened areas.
