They believe it was an asteroid that hit the earth, which dramatically changed the atmosphere as we know it. Its a theory, they have no proof other then scientific theories.

The Milankovich cycles of the earth's orbit around the sun is believed to result in the long term climate cycles. There are other cycles such as the 11 year sun spot cycle that seems to be related to electic energy from polarity switches in the Sun's magnetic field. It is believed that solar flares (from sun spots) disrupt the earth' s magnetic field (our magnetosphere) which allows more cosmic radiation hitting the earth. This cosmic radiation may result in more clouds reflecting some solar radiation and heat. I wouldn't be so sure that oil and coal are the primary cause of recent climate change. There is very little evidence to support this. You will notice that they alarmists provide very little evidence. They just try to demonstrate a concensus while they try to silence any skepticism.

Yes, the Ice sheet was over a mile thick at New York City and it melted for other reasons besides man.
What caused that ice to melt and recede? Natural climate change of the Earth, as the Earth always warms or cools. There is no "static" climate.

It's thought to be related to the fact that the earth's poles do not remain in a fixed position. Instead they wander of a long "figure eight" course. Because of this, the tilt of the earth's axis (which causes our seasons) will vary. I think the time it takes the pole to move from one extreme to the other is about 13,000 years. Someone else may know more precisely.

of course.climate is the atmospheric situation over a huge section and an prolonged volume of time. The climate device could properly be complicated to income. that's simply by fact that's an interplay between the sea, atmosphere, land, ice, and existence. Sea point is optimal in 3000 years. worldwide recommend sea point is raising greater promptly than on the different time interior the previous 3000 years.that's been raising at an customary fee of roughly 3.4 millimeter in line with 12 months from 1993 to 2008.that's almost two times the customary fee for the 20 th century. motives for climate transformations: - replace in image voltaic radiations -replace in earth orbit -replace in earth tilt -Volcanoes -Continental flow -Ocean currents -Meteorites the form of the ellipse (eccentricity) varies from much less elliptical to greater elliptical lower back to much less elliptical and take approximately a hundred,000 years to end this cycle. evaluation - while are we closest to the solar? evaluation - while are we furthest remote from the solar? The Earth's axis of rotation wobbles like a precise on a 23,000 12 months cycle. in 11,000 years, the seasons will swap circumstances throughout 12 months and could be greater intense. the lean varies from 22° - 24.5° on a 40-one,000 12 months cycle. -the present tilt is 23.3°. at the instant, the axis of rotation for the earth is tilted at 23.5° despite the fact that, this fee transformations from a minimum of twenty-two.5° to a optimal of 24.5° and takes 40-one,000 years to end one cycle Emits CO2 and SO2 CO2- by skill of Volcano 250 million tonnes by skill of Human pastime- 26,000 million tonnes while the Earth comes out of an ice age, the warming isn't initiated by skill of CO2 yet by skill of transformations interior the Earth's orbit. The warming motives the oceans to provide up CO2. The CO2 amplifies the warming and mixes in the process the ambience, spreading warming in the process the planet. So CO2 motives warming AND growing to be temperature motives CO2 upward push.

Nobody knows for sure what causes ice ages to start or end, although there are several theories, all unproven so far. That is one reason I question the accuracy of predictions of what will happen in the future due to the higher levels of Carbon Dioxide we are causing.

The geological record shows that the Earth is normally hotter than it is now. For about 80 million years, during the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods the Earth's average global temperature was around 22ºC, compared to 14ºC now. For about 55 million years during the Triassic and Jurassic periods the Earth's average global temperature was again around 22ºC. For a brief million or so years during the Permian period the Earth's average global temperature was above 23ºC. For about 25 million years during the Devonian and Silurian periods, the Earth's average global temperature was again around 22ºC. For about 50 million years during the Cambrian and Ordovician periods the Earth's average global temperature was around 22ºC. There were four major Ice Ages during that time span, we are climbing out of one now.

It was the natural cycle of the climate. Just like the "man made" global warming. All just cycles.
