I've worked in fast food on and off for many years. The way I see it it is about getting as much money flowing in the direction of the corporation and store owners as possible. The resturants supplies are cheap enough so that discounts of the type you are suggesting would take money out "TheMans" pockets and they can't have that at all!!

Courtesy Cups for consumers are a regular for the enterprise. They aren't the normal cups used for beverage sales, and for that reason do not rely towards stock. Again in the days when you could spend a $1 at MacD's and get a burger, fries, and a small soda, they made up the difference by charging a penny right here and a penny there. Alternatively of charging an even 5 or 10, charge an ordinary number like 3, or seven on your menu board. This gives you a 2 penny increase in over-all earnings across the board. If anyone asks why the strange prices (and you understand anybody will) just say you have got trimmed the costs DOWN, no longer up, to avoid wasting them money. They'll be again for your consideration to them.

Most do not but some places do. It is mainly up to the owner.

In my local mall ALL of the places to eat in the food-court (Taco Johns, Subway, Arbys, Pizza hut, and three other locally owned places) give you a discount on refills if you purchase the "mall mug" which is just a large insulated travel mug, with a lid. There are lots of convience stores that offer a similar thing, like the "big gulp". You pay extra for the mug one time but then you clean it out and bring it back and just pay for a refill.

You could suggest something of the sort to a local restaurant and make sure to tell them how the cups would generate advertising and bring in more buisness. Especially since soft-drinks are where they make the largest profit anyway.

I don't think that napkins or utencils would be allowed simply because of health reasons.

Courtesy Cups for patrons are a time-honored for the industry. they don't look to be the first cups used for beverage sales, and as a result do not count form against inventory. decrease back in the days once you will be able to desire to spend a $a million at MacD's and get a burger, fries, and a small soda, they made up the version by ability of charging a penny right here and a penny there. incredibly of charging a impressive 5 or 10, fee an strange form like 3, or seven on your menu board. this provide you a 2 penny boost in over-all sales around the board. If somebody asks why the strange expenses (and you comprehend somebody will) merely say you have trimmed the fees DOWN, not up, to save them money. they would be decrease back on your attention to them.

Because it's fast food. They provide everything cheap (well, most of the time) and fast. If they start discounting for cups and napkins, what next? Salt, pepper, catsup, buns, hamburger patties? If you want to pay less, Why don't you just bring your own lunch to a fast food place and just use the free napkins, cups, cream and sugar?

BTW cups and napkins with advertisements on them are supplied for free by beverage corporations (pepsi, coke...) or whoever the advertiser is.

Sorry for being so harsh.

Nice thought, but it would do little for the environment. Frequenting these fast food places is not environmentally friendly. They promote shady business and farming practices and foreign outsourcing. Not to mention what eating at these places does to your body. You have no idea what kind of crap (literally) you are ingesting when you eat at these places. For the good of yourself, and the environment, just buy your food at the grocery store and save your going out to eat for special occasions at real restaurants where they give you washable dishes and cloth napkins.

Many of them will give you a cheaper price for coffee if you have your own cup. But as for napkins and such, that's just ridiculous. Items like napkins are such an insignificant cost that they aren't really factored into the cost of an item.

Some places (not really fast food, I guess) do. To really overcome laziness though, the discount would have to be large enough that it would cut into their profits too much. The cups probably only cost them a penny or two each.

One, they don't know where your crap has been, so they don't want you bringing in stuff that could contaminate the rest of the restaurant. Two, they still have to stock those things anyway for the ones who didn't bring anything, so it's not cutting down on any real cost for them. Three, it encourages customers to be skanky, thereby creating a skanky atmosphere. Four, they'd have to police all of those people to make certain they didn't leave with any of the restaurant's items instead of their own.

Probably because they know that their cashiers would not know what to do and the managers would get annoyed at how many times they are called up to do the transaction because the 16 yr old behind the counter does not know how to press a button that says "own cup" or whatever on it lol
