Is it true that each plankton bloom can pull 800 million tons of C02 out of the atmosphere?

Is marine life suffering because of the reduction of plankton worldwide, and will this also help restore the food chain in the oceans?

Is it true that Planktos has a subsidiary that is reforesting many areas of land?

I looked at the website, but I'm interested in getting answers from scientists and other people as well.

Even if global warming is completely false, I still want to try and prevent it, here's why.
Watch this video-
http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=317652

Even if our impact on the globe is completely harmless to it, which to me seems impossible.. we take up "20 seconds" of the earth's "year" (or in other words, we have been around for .0000065% of the earth's history). And plants and animals have evolved to cope with a certain amount of change- the amount present in natural conditions- and we have been changing so much it is against the earths flora and fauna's nature to survive what we are doing to it- anyways- I am pretty ignorant about the whole thing but please watch that video if nothing else to get you thinking.

Hey, if you are a scientist in this field, or you are a global warming activist, the shut up and listen to me for a second:

I have been a huge skeptic for a long time now. But finally after all this time, I have been able to sort through most of the lies (from both sides), misinformation, propaganda, and worst of all, the FEAR MONGERING to start to understand that global warming may actually be MAN MADE!

That being said - I am absolutely enfuriated by this. If you are right about global warming being man-made, then why talk for 20 minutes about the horrors of life in New Orleans after Katrina? Why tell us that the sea will rise 20 or more feet and that Manhattan will be under water? Why tell us that most of Florida will be gone?

Please, for the love of humanity tell us exactly in scientific terms, using UNEDITED data and graphs, HOW this is happening so that other skeptic can get on board. Please show us REAL and ACCURATE data on solar activity for the past 70+ years.

When did we go from Question Authority to believe what ever Authority says?

As taxpayers, shouldn't we deserve only the highest quality of information from the gvmt? Don't we deserve data without ambiguity?

Doesn't anyone else think we deserve better?

I can see why he blocked myself and Dana. We get tough when we think someone deserves it. Fair enough to block us.

But Trevor??????? He's always patient and respectful. And the only one on the whole forum who's a genuine climatologist.

people keep demanding explanation for 'instances' of extreme weather... or the lack thereof. "if the el nino doesn't occur, we're being lied to..." is at odds with "is global warming responsible for flooding in the midwest?" these are instances... geographically isolated from each other, but when combined with other extreme events, portend trends of things to come.

without 'instances', there can be no trends. without 'trends', there can be no climate change.

so i ask whether instances of extreme weather, or overall trends are more important in determining exactly what is happening? and which will be most instrumental in persuading skeptics of climate change... fifty years of slowly rising sea levels, or the first 150-degree day in death valley?

In April 2006, Dr. James Hansen, a leader in global warming predicted that there would be a good chance for a 'super el nino' for 2006 - 2007 winter. His predictions that the climate would "wreak weather havoc worldwide, from deep drought in Australia to flooding in California"

Well, this didn't happen. Australia and California survived.

And again a climatologist misses a prediction, and no one remembers. But the next time they predict dire consequences, the people will be whipped up in a frenzy, as planed.

Instead of being scared of the unknown, we should just look back on those who are making the prediction and see just how many times they were right. We'll discover that they are as right as anyone else, and we all have an equal chance of predicting the future.

And that's all "global warming" is. One person trying to convince you that they can predict the future better than someone else.

I've been blocked from the question so I don't know if Jello posted a reference. Based on past experience I'm guessing not.

What actually happened was that some Georgia Republicans set up a biased panel to discuss the issue.

http://www.ajc.com/opinion/content/opinion/stories/2007/08/20/sibleyed_0821.html

And the panelists (no surprise given who they are, see the article above) said it was false.

http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/2007/08/22/warming_0822.html

But, there was no "resolution" as far as I can find out on the Net. And the above articles make clear that this is not a widely held position among Southern Republicans. It's not even clear what the Georgia legislature thinks about the issue.

Please correct me, with a reference, if I'm wrong.

Mr. Jello - he of "top contributor" status in the global warming section - has now blocked my ID so I can no longer correct his incessant distortion and ignorance of the scientific facts regarding this subject.

This is not the first time a global warming denier has blocked my ID - I was also blocked by someone named "the_CO2_agenda_is_a_lie" and "a_bush_family_member" for the same reasons.

Are global warming deniers so afraid of the facts that they'll censor people who try and use scientific facts to convince them that they're wrong?

The State of Georgia passed a resolution dismissing "global warming" as a media event, nor a scientific event.

98% of the scientist agreed with the Georgia legislator that global warming was being driven by hysteria.

This vote was against a resolution by California to pass more aggressive environmental laws than required by the federal gvmt.

Now that Georgia and 8 other states have declared that man made global warming isn't real, will people start to believe that this is just a political and media event?
