In the United States over 50% of our electricity is generated by the use of coal.

If we can replace coal burning power plants with an energy source that does not release carbon dioxide to the atmosphere we could cut our carbon dioxide emissions.

That would be a good start.

Ban ALL emissions of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. I am sure the UN will be trying to do this, but how do you get volcanos, bacteria and thermal springs to obey the UN rules? We need to call the Nature Police!

We can buy and invest in electric cars and hybreds. Buy local produce from small grocery stores and farmers markets (if you eat vegetables, and you should), this is trucked from close by instead of from Chili, or Mexico! Yes plant plants of all matter, go to freetreesandplants.com you only have to shipping. Recycle, take your own canvas bags to the grogery store. Turn off the lights in the rooms of your house you are not in. Remember some of our electric energy comes from coal powered plants.

You can find out just how much you impact the environment by actually putting in your activities such as driving, flying, electricity/gas use, etc into an environmental footprint calculator. There is a good one hosted by Business Objects and Zerofootprint at:

http://insight.businessobjects.com/challenge?extcmp=07q3_insight_ya_0821

You can save your results as well as pledge to make certain changes that will reduce your footprint.

Buy a carbon scrubber and exhale into that. We could reduce CO2 output by as much as 15% is everyone just stopped exhaling.
