The thought is that both are or were not real problems.

But that's completely wrong.

Y2K was an enormous problem, which would have created chaos in many computer systems. It took thousands of programmers many thousands of hours to fix it. The estimated cost to fix it was 500 billion dollars.

The only thing was the programmers were not confident they'd found all the bugs and were cautious about saying that nothing much would happen.

But Y2K was a very real problem.

And so is global warming. Proof here (and many other places):

Meehl, G.A., W.M. Washington, C.A. Ammann, J.M. Arblaster, T.M.L. Wigleym and C. Tebaldi (2004). "Combinations of Natural and Anthropogenic Forcings in Twentieth-Century Climate". Journal of Climate 17: 3721-3727

summarized at:

People who say Y2K wasn't a problem are ignorant of the facts. And so are those who say global warming isn't real.

According to Weather Channel climate expert Dr. Heidi Cullen, the annual mean temp of the Earth has been rising .36 degrees Fahrenheit per decade for the last thirty years. However, when there is a very warm day, people who believe in global warming seem to indicate that it was not this warm 10-20 years ago. But even if Dr. Cullen's findings are true, don't they only indicate a very slight difference in the temperature? Meaning, 10-20 years ago you would have a 94.3 degree day instead of the 94.66 degree day you had recently? If you ask me, you cannot reinforce the existance of global warming simply by experiencing a warm day. Do you agree?

If the earth heats up will the 2 polls of the earth weaken resulting in the earth getting farther from the sun, resulting in a cool down of the earth and a strengthen of the earths polls bringing us back close to the sun..and forever repeated...

If everyone in a hot country threw ice cubes or water outside in the warm weather would it cool the earth down by drying up and then raining more than it naturally would?

If global warming is causing these hurricanes, tornadoes, floors and tsunami's will they cut down on global warming due to the death of humans and animals(because we breath in gases and out carbon gases... and all the other ways we use electric and gases)

If the ice caps melt and we get more floods many more plants will grow taking away the carbon and giving oxygen cooling down the earth

If we created a device that would literally change carbon gases into other gases(this is possible) would it be possible to reverse global warming

I mean, does it have to be the middle of January, with their air conditioners running wide open, and they are sweating all over their "Reagan Bush '84" buttons before they admit there just might be a problem here?

This is a book by Michael Critchton that has alot of good facts about the environment and global warming. I suggest that everyone should read it and learn what the data really shows for global warming. It has both sides of the story so don't complain about it. It has its sources listed too so check them out.

a few years back global warming was proven to be false, only a week after this, the information was deleted and forgotten. Global warming seems to be only a political issue now a days and I really want to know this. Is Global warming just a political strategy?

It might be the ABC News coverage on the demise of the Greenland ice cap last wek, and their ongoing coverage of GW. If you saw it, it was pretty impressive. I suspect a few teenagers still watch the news

It is apparent that global warming supporters virtually root for the kind of horrible weather conditions that can help them promote global warming "fixes," such as taking away SUVs and limiting the amout of heating and air conditioning you can do in your home.

They predicted a major rise in hurricanes after the bad season two years ago, but the opposite has happened.

Do you think it makes the global warm-ers look like alarmists? Do you think it exposes them as people with a political agenda, which would be stop technological advances and allow the government to exert more - total - control over the masses?

now just so u know i fully believe in global warming, but i have one problem with it. a bunch of studies and whatnot say that when the polar ice caps melt the water level will rise so many feet causing massive flooding. but wouldnt the water level drop? when water freezes it gets larger, so when it melts it would get smaller.

so when the polar ice caps melt wouldnt the water level lower?

There's been several questions posted by people worried that global warming will kill them. Even in the very worst case scenario this isn't the case. It's certainly not what the scientists are saying and as far as I'm aware it's not what the media are saying.

I was wondering where people are getting this impression from.

In "An Inconvenient Truth", Mr. Gore during his powerpoint presentation says the temperature-CO2 relationship “is actually very complicated.”

WHy complicated? Could it be that the following studies provide evidence in the paleoclimatic record that higher global temperatures PRECED high CO2 levels, i.e. CO2 is an effect, not a cause of high temperatures?

Sorry, couldnt fit anymore. Ran out of space.
