Global Warming

After all, it is humans that are causing this.. Wouldn't it be better if the human population drops so that all the little critters can be happy again and not have to be worried about being run over by Al Gore's son driving a hundred-miles-an-hour in his hybrid car?

Like, it has been mentioned in most of the historic books, mostly holy books, the earth has drowned once, and will drown again. The possible cause could be global warming as the polar ice is mealting slowly. Should we really get ready to be covered by water, and pack our bags to choose any other home, much safer than this.

I remember when I was a kid, and it was opening day on buck season in Pennsylvania, and waking up to look out the window and see the snow covering the ground, and how peaceful and quiet it was. Walking through the woods with snow on the ground was like being in another world, a perfect world. I want to not only tell my kids about these memories I have, but I want them to experience it for themselves and not just hear about them.

Why do you want to help fight global warming?

Both volcanoes and humans emit greenhouse gases, which contributes the most to global warming and by a factor of approx how many.

For example, “humans contribute twice as much as volcanoes” or “volcanoes contribute three times as much as humans”.

It has been stated in this section that global warming stopped in 1998, is there any evidence to support this claim?

I'm writing a paper for one of my classes and would like to get a sampling of your opinions.

As an Engineering and Science grad student, nearly everyone I know is more than a little mad about the politicians and media when they keep saying "ALL SCIENTIST AGREEE that Global Warming is a Man-made problem". The fact is, we don't all agree at all.

When I look at historical evidence, it appears we have had many ice ages in the past with the periods in between being much warmer.

Also, when you address CO2 emmisssions, all of the man made CO2 is just a small percentage of the CO2 put into the atmosphere by just ONE major volcanic eruption.

So, do you think this "crisis" is a genuine man-made crisis that needs toi be dealt with, or is it just a fabricated political "crisis"?

Fact:

The Sun's output and radiation is changing and increasing, effecting all planets but they refuse to talk about that or mention it because that would kill their new scam the Carbon Tax!

Look at Saturn - Atmosphere is changing and strange hurricane like storms at the poles.

Look at Mars - Elevated atmosphere and the polar caps are melting at an alarming rate

Look at Venus - The atmosphere changes all over the planet in a single planetary

Look at the Moons of Saturn that were once Ice, they are now liquid pools

Its not just the Earth - but for those that follow the Main Stream Scientists that is all they want to hear!

Money out of thin air for something they can't change.

Even if they did manage to lower the greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere, by doing that it would actually make the Earth even hotter because the gasses that are there act like a shield against the Suns radiating heat.

Did you get that - the gasses act like a protective shield

"NEWSWEEK implied, for example, that ExxonMobil used a think tank to pay academics to criticize global-warming science. Actually, this accusation was long ago discredited, and NEWSWEEK shouldn't have lent it respectability."

Is this just another example where beliefs trump facts?
If you want the story to be true, then it is?

Will the knowledge that this story is bogus and false stop people from using it when it fits their advantage?

I was pondering the use of satellites. If satellites can "beam" information down to Earth and because of the distance, it sends things in a "cone" shape, much like a flashlight is able to beam light in a cone shape, can't we apply the same physics to an object sent up to cast a shadow on both polar caps to help prevent polar melting? Or anywhere else that would benefit from such an endeavor, such as Greeland?

Why can't we do the same to modern man? The damn cave men end the ice age with their new fangled gasoline engines, raised the sea level, and damn near drowned his fellow man in smog. We should know our history so we don't repeat it, but somewhere along the way we forgot and started up with the cars and factories again. When will it end!?

I have a question ... why doesnt ANYONE care about global warming now? Ok, maybe some people do, but not even half the world. people think, oh yeh, i know its bad and all, but I'll do it later.

WELL DO IT NOW!!! NOWW!! PLEASE GUYS! i read this thing saying in 3 YEARS we will all be dead. Turn your lights off right now. Thats it, now, like right now. You can still see. Cuz whe you have this light on , think of all those hungry penguins who cannot be fed because you are wasting energy.

Turn every light off that you don't need to use NOW. When you have charged your phone or anything, take it out immediantly. If you want to die , I have a simple solution . SUICIDE, OK?

Now please, PLEASE I am on my knees.

I am only 11, I cry at night because o global warming. Please everyone, save humanity. NOW.

PLEASE, From Jess x

ExxonMobil has been offering lots of money to any scientists who can come up with data showing that the increase in CO2 caused by human activity is not contributing to global warming.

how much is offer?
who has received it?
when did this start?
how long is the offer good for?

of course, speculators need not apply, nor people who can answer only one question.

PLEASE remember, "HARD NUMBERS DON'T LIE"

"Sen. Barbara Boxer had been chair of the Senate's Environment Committee for less than a month when the verdict landed last February. "Warming of the climate system is unequivocal," concluded a report by 600 scientists from governments, academia, green groups and businesses in 40 countries. Worse, there was now at least a 90 percent likelihood that the release of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels is causing longer droughts, more flood-causing downpours and worse heat waves, way up from earlier studies."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20122975/site/newsweek/

How can anyone use this pretense to show one's point as being conclusive?

600 scientist from 40 countries = 15 scientist per country.
15 per country from gvmt, academia, green groups, and business = >4 per group per country.

How hard is it to find 4 people who either believe or profit in some way from the threat of global warming?

And why would anyone use a political committee to show scientific proof?

Imagine, for a moment, that it had been discovered that global warming had absolutely nothing to do with humans. It was a natural change in the environment caused by forces beyond our control. You knew that there was NOTHING that we as a sepcies could do about it, that we were TOTALLY IMOPTENT. You knew that the effects on the earth were only going to increase, and that we as an animal WERE going to suffer terrible hardships in the near future, but not potentially fatal hardships for perhaps another 3 or 4 generations. Would you a) Tell the truth, which could well result in mass panic, the collapse of society and anarchy or b) Hide the truth, and allow people at least the illusion that they could do something about it in order to stave off social unrest?
