The swindle video is junk. Proof:

"A Channel 4 documentary claimed that climate change was a conspiratorial lie. But an analysis of the evidence it used shows the film was riddled with distortions and errors."

History of the director.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Durkin_(television_director)

Gore's movie may be a little over dramatic, but it has the basic science right. This movie does not.

Channel 4 itself undercuts the movie in a funny way. If you go to their website on the movie you find links to real global warming information. They also have a way to "Ask the Expert" about global warming. The questions go to a respected mainstream scientist who supports (mostly) human responsibility for global warming, and tells you the movie is wrong.

So, why did Channel 4 broadcast it?

"The science might be bunkum, the research discredited. But all that counts for Channel 4 is generating controversy."

http://environment.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/story/0,,2032572,00.html

EDIT - I invite anyone to check out the links I've posted and see if they think they're "crap". If you don't want to do them all, I suggest starting with the wikipedia stuff on Durkin's history of deception.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Durkin_(television_director)

"The 1998 documentary on breast implants was shown on Channel 4 only after it had been rejected for broadcast by the BBC whose in-house researcher concluded that Durkin had ignored a large body of evidence contradicting his claims in the program."

and following up with this critique from scientists:

http://www.amos.org.au/BAMOS_GGWS_SUBMISSION_final.htm

The video even included the laughably ignorant statement that volcanoes emit more greenhouse gases than man produces.

The verdict on this movie is in.

Already saw it. Pretty interesting, especially the political stuff. Some bad science, especially the oceans being a source of CO2. Some good science too. But is is political propaganda, just like "An Inconvenient Truth", only with the opposite point of view.

Ok Lovekaatz, I've watched the film. Now, since I took the time to do that, you ought at least to check out this response to the film from a climate scientist. Don't worry, he doesn't just dismiss the film offhand by calling it a piece of propaganda. He logically breaks down each of the film's arguments and invalidates them. Take a look and see what you think.

It's interesting that you dismiss Bob's answer as propoganda but beleive The Great Global Warming Swindle.

Bob quotes from real climate scientists - the people who actually know about the climate. Swindle is the work of Matin Durkin, a TV producer, who knows nothing about climate.

Durkin has a long history of taking a subject, distorting it and presenting it as fact. He's got a string of convictions for doing so, the mainstream media won't broadcast his work, other producers and scientists won't have anything to do with him.

Here's Durkin being interviewed on ABC (Australia) about Swindle, each clip is about 10 mins long...

All i will say is that I enjoyed the shown fact that "stop now" replaced into repeated before everything of consecutive strains. an illustration? not basically are we crawling in the international for not something, yet we are basically a undesirable case of head lice that she'll at last shelter, and quickly. And what approximately that ending couplet? That stated all of it. thank you to make us think of immediately.

It certainly demonstrates that the fascists are willing to spend impressive amounts of money to suppress science and push their political agenda.

We need to see that about as much as we need to see The Inconvenient Truth.

Actually, I think the only reason to see that is to restore your balance after watching The Inconvenient Truth.

Though we may not be able to stop it, it is our fault. You better hope we can do something about it or the future is going to be a very rough ride.
