in 1895 there was a article written that came to the conclusion that if we didn't do something about global warming in the next 30 years, we would have a runaway greenhouse effect, killing all life on the planet. in the late 60's and early 70's global cooling was the agenda of the day. now it is global warming again. is our planet warming? yes and no. like other planets in the solar system, parts are warming, other parts are remaining the same or cooling slightly. average temps globally though has risen in the past 150 years, one whole degree. when we came out of the last major ice age about 15,000 years ago, the global temperatures went up 10 degrees in far less time. why? unknown. but before we start making laws, and spending huge amounts of money making large changes in the worlds infrastructure, for small or no gain, we first need to understand the science behind global warming. what is truly causing it, and can man really do something about it. if we do something now, and we do the wrong thing, we may cause bigger problems, like a huge increase in temps, or a huge decrease in temps.

Wrong question. Yes, we are facing 'global warming'. Again.
This is not something mankind has never seen before. The same thing happened back in the Dark Ages. The reason most people don't know that is because the 'hockey stick' graph was trumpeted as proof of our danger, but what nobody wanted to admit was that the data was 'fixed' to scare people.
In fact, the earth's atmosphere is normally about 3% CO2. OF THAT 3%, about 3-4% is caused by human activity. That works out to 0.003% due to human activity. That is statistically insignificant. We can't do ANYTHING about Global Warming. All we can do is switch our energy production from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. This makes perfect sense on economic grounds. Why cry wolf and risk making people think it's all a lie? Using Global Warming in this manner is highly irresponsible and counterproductive.

Yes. Climate change (global warming) is a widely believed fact. The evidence is there. Both in studies and graphs and just listening about and watching the climate extremes. Anyone who doesn't believe it is just an ignorant jacka** who doesn't want to accept the fact that they might have had a hand in causing it and may have to adjust their lifestyle a little bit to help out.

Sure why not we are screwing up everything . We need a new system a new way of thinking . The only way that's going to happen is some sort of major catastrophe and this may bring it about .To many rich greedy people wanting all the power for what reason i have no idea . There are people in there 90,s with millions upon millions sitting in the bank i believe they think there going to buy there way to heaven or something . Instead of taking that money and try to fix up mother earth with it they will take it to there grave . People are such fools we deserve what mother nature is going to hand out to us even the poor because we do nothing to stop the rich all we do is keep feeding them there apatite gold .

Everything in the world is changing only the greed of man stays the same and that's whats going to kill us not global warming where going to do it to ourselves i just feel for the Innocent children

There was a time when people were saying the Earth was flat. That didn't mean the idea was even remotely plausible. "ppl" saying we were going to enter an ice age is meaningless.

I believe global warming is happening now because that is what the science shows. There was never a single shred of evidence supporting the idea that Earth was about to plunge into an ice age.

I have been a sceptic but am going over to the dark side of global warming with the more science I study.

Damn Al Gore for being a political partisan on the issue. His role really has made people who would possibly accpet the truth deny it.

This is what I know...
The earth was created with a perfect eco-system.
Each creature from a protozoan to a grizzly bear was put here, along with an ocean, streams, creeks, trees, grasses, dirt etc....
Then people wanted things to be easier and decided that the eco-system was not as important as progress...so the eco system has been damaged and is being damaged, to where the Earth - she will heal herself, and if that means throwing us off, she will...if that means that the Gulf Coast will once more cover our Southern States, and The Pacific will be on top of the Mojave desert...then it will be.
Call it what you want to, I call it healing

People need to stop this horrible misuse of information regarding global warming.

1.) Yes, global warming is real.
2.) Global warming is a natural cycle the sun and earth go through. You nay have heard of the other name for global cooling... "ice age".
3.) It will not kill you, but you should know about it.
4.) A single volcanic eruption (like the one about to happen in Alaska) releases more greenhouse gasses than the total output of humans for decades.
5.) The rise in the earth's temperature can be directly related to a rise in output from the sun. There have been similar temperature increases on other planets in our solar system (and you don't see people trying to get Martians to drive hybrid cars do you?)
6.) There is a huge amount of money at stake here and the information you are receiving about global warming is attached to a larger agenda from people who are out to make a buck cashing in on your fears.
7.) Don't be a sheep. It's good that you are seeking the truth, just be careful who who accept the "truth" from. I prefer scientists myself as opposed to politicians.

I linked a SCIENTIFIC explanation of global warming below from a non-partisan SCIENTIFIC source... www.space.com you might find it interesting at it may serve to allay your fears.
I suggest anyone who discusses this topic to read it, it just might open your eyes.

Hope this helps!

i beleive the global warming theroy. all the ice in the poles are melting, and we need to think about what will happen in the future. we cant just live life by what looks cool, or classy (ex. cars) we need to really think about the future, and the animals that are involved in it, like the polar bears. what are they going to do? just die. that cant happen. everything was put on this planet for a reason, and when something gets taken off the planet. there is nothing to fufill that place.

Do some research and you will find that prior to the last ice age scare, 20 - 25 years ago, there was another threat of global warming. It comes in stages with people screaming the world is going to burn, then it's the world is going to freeze, and now it's were all going to burn up, and 15 years from now it will be we are freezing again. I agree with the chicken little statement.
