To me, you can't honestly talk about carbon emissions without talking about the number of carbon emitters.

Unless you have been living in a cave for the past few years, it would be difficult to have not read or heard about the threat of global warming to our planet. "Life as we know it" is beyond the 11th hour and we must make some serious adjustments in our attitudes about how we conduct "business as usual". The planet can do without us, but our species can not do without Earth. As Mr. Gore has suggested, I believe it is time for all the industrialized countries to come to the Round Table to sign an enforceable treaty to significantly reduce the causes of global warming. It should be done NOW. Do you agree?

International legal experts are discovering climate change
law, and the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu is a case in point:

The Polynesian archipelago is doomed to disappear beneath
the ocean. Now lawyers are asking what sort of rights citizens
have when their homeland no longer exists.

Why is it that warming alarmist will point to something like Hurricane Humberto and say that it quickly becoming a hurricane is proof of global warming only after the fact that it did become a hurricane quickly?

If it was part of global warming, if we know what causes global warming, if we can predict the effects of global warming, this should have been easy to see coming and have warnings issued weeks before Humberto actually started to form off the coast.

But it wasn't because global warming is only accurate after something happened, as everything that happened is the result of global warming.

If global warming was real, we would be able to forecast these events many days before they happened.

More proof that this is nothing more than a money making scheme.

I'm @ Borneo. Huge parts of our island is cleared for timber; environ, flora & fauna degradation. I hv a 10 he. plot that was alinated 40 yrs ago. It was 1st Rubber. Later the old trees were re-planted with fruit trees. 8 yrs ago due to EL NINO occur, >90% of the 10 yr fruit trees were burn by forest fire. Now I have some $$ for re-planting. Seeking HONEST international opinions whether I should plant:
1. indigenous hardwood trees which take 100 yrs to mature
2. Oil Palm trees for quick $ gain
My conflicting principles are to revert the land to mother nature. ie environ protection & re-juvination or commercialise.
Oil palm will give me g'tee mthly income 18 mths after planting. Efforts in hardwood trees take 3 generations to realise & along the way, contribute to environ.
Q: If I would to sell the Carbon absorbed by my trees, as envisioned in the Kyoto protocol, for EURO 65 per tree per year, will any one be willing to pay for the CO2 you have expended. email: hoenghsu@yahoo.com

Due to lack of real ice? I ask this question because it was inspired by something that me and my fiance were talking about. Anyway I suggested perhaps some sort of artifical ice but then she convinced me that perhaps that might not be a good idea and instead she mentioned the idea about maybe scientists can make some sort of floatation device. Anyway me and her both agreed that we really disliked the idea of polar bears drowning due to certain human activities that are causing global warming. Do you think that it's possible perhaps in the near to distant future for something like that to happen?

It seems like virtually every global warming denier question requires climate scientists to be stupid and incompetent.

It always amazes me that global warming deniers will claim that volcanoes or natural cycles or the sun are causing global warming, as if scientists haven't considered these simple explanations.

Do deniers really think that climate scientists with PhDs are all morons?

Hurricane Humberto came out of nowhere. People had no time to prepare or evacuate. Are these "instant hurricanes" going to be more common in this age of global warming?

When our light bulbs blow out I replace them with those weird windy looking ones (let me just say they are not very bright at all!) and I never leave a light on if I am not using it and we drive economical cars lol Might not seem like much but I have started turning off power at the power point now too. I know that many people out there don't believe in global warming but don't you think it is worthwhile to take it seriously in case many scientists DO know better than you, for the sake of our children and grandchildren and so on? I feel it is very selfish to dismiss the notion of global warming because it might inconvenience our lives a fraction to try to slow down the process.

Are they taking into account that 9/10th of the ice is submerged in the water and therefore already contribuiting to the current sealevel, or are they falsely assuming that all of the ice in the polar caps including the part that is submerged, if melted, adds up to the current sea level ?

At last, two scientists have applied common sense to the Global Warming argument. After extensive research, they came to the conclusion that Global Warming is natural and has happened regularly over thousands of years. Just visit the Natural History Museum and see an exhibit explaining how and when it has happened in the past if you don't believe them. Dr David Bellamy was ridiculed for saying much the same thing some time ago. Historical evidence points to the natural cycle of record floods going back 5000 years ago and the flourishing wine production in England during the much milder period when the Romans occupied Britain. Scientists have pointed out that the Sun's radiation has far more influence on our climate that we humans do. Of course, this won't budge those who believe that all we have to do is tax everything to stop it. Complete rubbish of course. What we should be preventing is the massive forest clearance and logging taking place abroad. No financial gain there though!

Well I am somewhat dismayed and disappointed how the "greatest" country has bred so many skeptics and fools.
Too many of you are now scared of the media's hold over the nation, and the way it tends to brainswash people, that you now don't want to believe anything. I must agree, the little american TV i watch is disgusting and issuses are blown out of proportion. I am not surprised some of you act to deny it and think it's just another scare tactic.
However, please do not let your sad state of a country/media pollute your minds. Global warming is in fact a real phenomonon and it is our own doin through the use of all of these green house gas producing facilities/objects.
PLease do not be ignorant, forget about how sad your media is, and embrace what is fact. I choose not to watch tv as it is pollutive at best.
Are many of you none believers for the sake of rebelling against the media, or are you really so inclined and intelligent that you can go against many smart scientists?

OK let's break this down for all of the psuedo-scientists.
What is responsible for most of the heat on the earth? If you said the sun, good for you.
Does the temperature on the sun vary? If you said yes, goog for you.
Are there solar flares that produce massive amounts of heat? If you said yes, good for you.
Is it possible and likely that a gradual increase in temperature of the sun could creat a gradual increase on earth? Once again good for you if you said yes.
Have scientists admitted that they do not fully understand solar flares and their effects? Once again....yes.

Should we send ALGORE to the sun to do his power point presentation and convince all of the residents of the sun that they are responsible for heating up the earth? Of course the answer is yes.
