I noticed all the liter on streets and have actually witnessed people throwing papers. I will put any trash I accumulate in a plastic bag that I carry in my purse and find a refuse bin to dispose of it. I was taught this as a child!! My husband is the same way. We are both 18 and got married hurriedly because he was leaving for Army Infantry training and decided this was the best for ourselves and the baby we are expecting. We've known each other since age 13 and have remained friends over the years. I remember one incident when he and I and Jamie's baby sister were in a car being driven by his mother. We were in the backseat tickling the baby to get her to smile and laugh and each other and it got a little out of hand. Jamie had a water bottle in his hand and threw it out of the car. His mom was driving and she pulled over and yelled at him for littering and disturbing her driving. She punished him for littering but not me I was a guest lol lol. We were both 14 at the time.

Is it wrong to want to take care of the environment? To want to recycle and preserve our world for future generations?

Actions taken at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Summit in Seattle include stepping up programs to weatherize buildings, capture methane gas from landfills, switch municipal fleets to hybrids, promote mass transit and buy cleaner electricity.

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels cited the " ... failure of our federal government to step up," and NY's Bloomberg added that "Green energy is going to be the oil gusher of the 21st century."

The 728 mayors cities house 1/4 of the nation's population.

I want a career in the animal care/conservation field but I don't know where to start. Most of the jobs available for people of my experience have nothing to do with animals. I am already volunteering at my local nature reserve, attending talks and guided walks on wildlife, and studying a course in animal behaviour. What's a good first job for getting my foot in the door in the wildlife field?

Will we be living more locally, traveling less....like we did in the 50's and 60's.....I lived in SE PA, and going to NJ was an adventure and MD was in another world. Imports were luxuries and flying somewhere was for rich people.

I myself work in the IT industry. I use all kinds of devices for work and I can't get around it. My family (4) is the same way with their consumption. I *know* that I can curb my consumption and increase my efficiency but I'm curious otherwise...

Realisticly, can someone run a modern day home with computers/appliances/home theater and such using nothing more than solar or alternative fuel sorces? I don't mean off the "grid" but more like zero net.

Are solar homes built with this in mind nowadays? If I invest in solar panels et al will I be disapointed in the result? How much can I expect to spend to make it work right?

Thanks!
