Genuine leather does not have any grain. Leather is natural quality. It goes nothing bad by time to time but various kinds of leathers exist in market. So be sure before picking out leather & recommendation for best brand like as Phive Rivers.

"Genuine Leather" means that the material contains materials
derived from the hide of an animal (ie. real leather). So, it does not mean much. It could be leather fibers glued together to make a sheet of material that looks like real leather. Try dissecting a "Genuine Leather" belt from China. It will likely have a fabric core, covered with a leather derived product, that cracks and falls apart quickly.

genuine leather is real soft and has a leather smell,,, you can almost roll a jacket up in a ball, it's so smooth and soft. fake is stiff, not a good smell and will soon crack if the fake leather is worn alot.

Genuine leather does not necessarily mean that it is "real" leather. It means it is a genuine leather product. All-natural leather means that it is indeed made from the hide of an animal. Rawhide is an all-natural leather. However, there are even various types of rawhide: bovine, ostrich, alligator, lamb, goat, and even more exotic types such as deer and moose. As you can see, choosing a leather is not always easy. There are so many options that an uneducated shopper could get confused.

Genuine Leather is material created by tanning hides of animals (mostly cows.) However the reason it is called "Genuine Leather" is because it is not "Synthetic Leather" which is not made of tanned hide. The differance is that "Genuine Leather" is more expensive because it is harder to make.
