Excessive and unnecessary noise is a 21st century plague. The US Census Bureau reports that noise is, by far, America's #1 neighborhood complaint and the top reason people move out.

Surely, there must be decent places to live in the U.S. where the police actively stomp on boomcars and needlessly loud "exhaustmobiles" of all stripes. It's a sad commentary that places relatively free of this baneful noise are scarce as hens' teeth. After all, the noise from said machines is totally unnecessary, destroys communities, breeds crime, disorder and contempt, and generally disserves the public good. It would be great to find a "Guide to American Places to Live" where ambient noise is rated like other criteria.

They are everywhere because of MTV and the whole hihop thang! If I were you, I'd buy a home alarm system, buy a pitbull, drink a few Duvels, and turn up the surround sound on your home theater. That is what I do....

If most state laws require mufflers on cars to prevent loud noise, I can't understand why they don't have laws stopping the thunderously loud audio systems in cars, which come through the CLOSED windows and doors in my home. I don't want to hear that noise. If we can't have piece in our own homes, it is not a civilization we live in. That noise is simply disorder.

Nope... no place here. We have a pretty good life style in the States.

You might try some country in mid-Asia... perhaps a few Sub-Saharan African countries...

I think you'll be happier in either of these places. Move on to Nirvana dude!

Warm regards,
Douglas

I would do what one successful actor did. He bought himself a large ranch near his home town and built a self sustaining place. He grows his own food and has windmills, solar hot water heaters (thermosiphon type - uses no electricity). Very simple lifestyle.

Try Lawrence county Pennsylvania. It is where the Amish live and the travel by horse and buggy.

The larger the town, the more the riffraff, unfortunately.
