I had heard about a year ago they were going to do away with daylight savings time because it was only put into effect for the farmers from way back and we dont need it anymore and it really is just a hassle? Anyone else heard this?

As a school bus driver, dst needs to be stopped! It is so dangerous picking up children in the dark! The younger children are falling asleep on the bus & do not adjust to the time change, neither do the bus drivers! Does anyone care how dark & foggy it is @6:30AM? Students safety should be everyone's first concern, not daylight savings time!

Daylight saving time helps save energy, and with the rise in energy prices it's the reasonable thing to do, and not just farmers benefit from it.

I did hear that they were making it shorter usually daylight savings time is earlier before october 31st this year it is was nov 4th and in the spring it is going to be earlier. The reason I heard was also to decrease depression and have more sunlight. I didn't hear they were going to do away with it altoghether.

No, I never heard such a thing. This year, it was about four weeks longer; it began in March (normally begins the first Sunday in April) and ended in November (normally ends the last weekend of October), and I understand that there was no benefit to beginning it early, and I'll wager the extra week on the end produced no energy savings either.
