According to Wikipedia, it takes more energy to create a solar panel than that panel will create in its lifetime. Is this true? I can't think of any other reason why every rooftop in my home of the American Southwest wouldn't be covered with solar panels.

I don't know, maybe fruit flies, because they like to hang around my glass of iced tea or wine. But maybe midges or knats or something else tiny. There's not many, but they annoy me, flying between me and my computer screen, resting on the rim of my glass, and just generally being pests. Short of chemical warfare that might be worse for me than their presence, what would you suggest to rid me of these pests?

I just read this quote from a guy in the U.K. environmental agency...

"Whilst potential benefit of a vegan diet in terms of climate impact could be very significant, encouraging the public to take a lifestyle decision as substantial as becoming vegan would be a request few are likely to take up...You will be interested to hear that Defra is working on a set of key environmental behavior changes to mitigate climate change. Consumption of animal protein has been highlighted within that work...As a result, the issue may start to figure in climate change communications in the future. It will be a case of introducing this gently as there is a risk of alienating the public majority."

What are your thoughts? If you were presented with proof that not eating meat , dairy, or eggs could drastically help the environment AND that you could live healthily on a vegan diet, would you stop eating animal products?

The Transatlantic conveyor will stop if too much ice melts from the polar caps that decreases the salt percentage. Can this be avoided if pure salt is added to the oceans in large quantities. This salt can be found at many places, like dried up lakes in Amerika.

My family has a camp on a small lake. The water is spring feed and very clean. Growing up we never had any problems with leeches. For 26 years I had never even seen one while swimming. However within the last three years we have been finding them and a few family members have even got them on their bodies. If you have any fixes for the problem (that wouldn't hurt other wildlife in the lake) or any ideas why suddenly we are developing the problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I have been wondering about electric cars:
If you convert the petrol straight into movement (i.e. engine) you get a lot of kinetic energy. But say you use the mains. they burn the coal, gas, etc. to create heate to create movement to create electricity to charge your car wich is converted to movement. isn't just using a good diesel car better for the environment in general.

I've been looking online trying to weigh up the specification differences on hybrid vehicles currently available.

Not knowing much about cars to begin with, it's not making much sense.

Any advice or insight would be helpful. Thanks.

The rest is from the river and ocean life..So we could cut our `Carbon Footprint` to zero and hardly make a difference. Proves Climate change happens anyway.

Gas prices are very high. Now since they use corn for and secondary fuel, did you notice Milk as gone up twice as much since a year ago. No matter what they do everything is going sky high.
