They have finally given us the proof everyone's been wanting about global warming and it's very real. Have you done anything to help fix this? I have here in Canada Smithers BC, will you add to the list and try to help our planet?
Things I have done and do every day now [Started Feb2 2007]:
-I stopped running the hot water when doing dishes [I fill a bowl or sink with hot water for rinsing]
-I turn off the TV when I leave the livingroom to do other things [like playing on my computer]
-I turn lights off that are not necesary to be on.
-I turn the heat down [and in the summer months, Turn brakers off to the heating system,it really works to save on your electical bill]
-I put my computer on 'stand-by' at night before I go to bed. [I'm sleeping and not using it,so why should I add to my electrical bill]
-I use candles at night when watching TV [it's very romatic and/or is like being in a theater]
So; will you help too and try to stop the global warming?
Thank you. :0)

In the 20th century, Earth warmed by 0.7°C, while the global GDP increased 1800%. In the USA, life expectancy has increased from 47 years to 77 years. Literacy, medicine, leisure and even, in many respects, the environment have improved mightily over the course of the 20th century.

Even assuming the industrial revoultion is the sole cause of global warming, don't the benefits outweigh the consequences?

I am doing a project, regarding the energy benefit saved by an efficient window thermal blind. I am able to find many variations of improved r-value window blinds, and I can find the current heating system bills which is required for this building, as well as the number of windows which can be improved...but I still need a method to determine this cost/benefited analysis.... please help....

How would you design your political platform about the environment? What are some of the major issues facing the nation and the international community? What are the key areas you would focus on? How would you encourage local communities to get involved in their local environmental issues?

They have confirmed that humans have affected the planet by our actions, perhaps irreversibly. Does this make anyone want to change their own lives to help reduce the future environmental problems their children and grandchildren will inherit? Or do we all just go along like we have been and pretend like it doesn't matter?

I mean, people worry about saving energy and electricity when really it isn't being destroyed. So what's the problem if someone leaves a lightbulb on for too long? besides running electricity bill, does it actually hurt the environment? I would like to understand this.

from David Sington on climate change: Faced with a choice between an awkward fact and a comforting fiction, most people will take the fiction any day. And global warming is certainly inconvenient. Just when we have finally freed ourselves from the tedium of tilling the earth and gotten nice and comfortable with a big TV, central heating, cheap flights to exotic destinations, and an armor-plated all-terrain vehicle for nipping down to the mall, along come some bloody scientists to tell us that we can't go on as we are and as we like doing.
