Being an older contributor let me put some perspective on your question. Environmental issues have come and go since at least the early 1960's over 45 years ago. If you are a young whippersnapper of 25 you've probably only been politically aware for the past few years. Sorry, but this gives you a short horizon and what you see happening today often appears new because you have nothing to compare it to.
Incidentally, in the 1960s the hot issue was nuclear waste. The fear mongers were saying we were all going to become radioactive and die a painful death. Global warming is now all in vogue but it, too, will fade away as time goes on only to be replaced by some other HUGE ISSUE. This is the way these things work.

The environment has become an important political issue because politicians realize they can use environmental issues for profit. If you need proof, just take a peek at Al Gore's propaganda film, "A Convenient Lie", where he uses junk science, sloppy statistics, and doomsday predictions to make a tidy profit in the name of "global warming".
In the future, water rights will be very important. The world population continues to grow exponentially, and therefore consuming potable water exponentially, and with exponentially diverging supply and demand curves...well...bad things are certain to happen.

there has been some learn which shows that the most purpose on 'eco-friendly' technologies (it is extremely a lot basically each and everything that makes people imagine they are fixing the problem without easily threatening the fossil gasoline market) and the exclusion of nuclear potential (the in trouble-free terms technologies we've *in the present day* that ought to replace fossil fuels for electricity era (greatest reason behind international warming) everywhere and not in any respect emit CO2) as a answer to international warming through many people (including fossil gasoline astroturf communities like Greenpeace) would easily connect the reason of the low popularity of international warming through particular segments of the inhabitants.

The environment is an important issue affecting people's lives-increasingly so--becaus we are pushing it beyond its ability to recover--and need to shift how we do things to reduce the stress.
It is a political problem because making the necessary changes threatens some special interests--and they are using their money and power to subvert the political process and block action.

because it is being destroyed. what happens when it all runs out. What happens when there is not enough oxygen being produced naturally for us to breathe, when the rainforests are gone, if global warming really does melt the ice caps? people need to start to think about this, the problem is that most of us are so worried about paying bills, rent, taxes, etc. that we cannot focus on that because we spend all of our time working to pay the government most of our money!
