Is it plausable that the present downfall in species variation around the globe could be comparable to the Big 5 extinctions which took place in the Earth's History. As such, does anyone think mankind can sustain itself through an extinction as widespread and devestating as previous mass extinctions.
what does a Holocene extinction event mean to the world and us as a sentient species?

If I begin with water at a certain temperature, then heat that water in a pan on the stove, then put that water into a refrigerator until it returns to the temperature that I started with, which appliance will probably consume more energy, and by how much?

Will we eventually, and shortly be shoulder to shoulder, covering the entire planet, oceans included? What will become of the race when this happens?

I mean green power isn't going to meet demand so it's either fossil fuels that cause loads of pollution or nuclear that produces hot water and some nuclear waste that can easily be contained and nuclear fission only needs to be used until nuclear fusion is developed. Also they talk about biodiesel and all that but to grow plants for fuel either for cars or food for people or for anything you will need fertiliser and to produce fertiliser you need to heat it up to about 400°C which requires burning allot of gas which comes from oil and there is more petrol than gas in oil so biodiesel uses more oil and causes more pollution than just using the petrol. So you need to genetically modify the crop so it doesn't need fertiliser to grow. (I am not American before you call me one for not wanting to demolish all industry to save small bird)

I have to give a persuasive speech on a controversial issue. I'm having a little trouble finding links that give valid information. I need statistics on how much has been destroyed, endangered animals, pros and cons of the destruction. Anything would be helpful! :)

My 19-year-old cousin is a sophmore in college who has decided he wants to work toward ending hunger in Africa. One of his ideas is to work toward sustainable development in these regions, and he wants to study the ecology of the region.

Can you recommend a good school for this, and a good agency, company or NGO that would help him gain experience?

Thank you.

Do they burn them? bury them? State the country you are referring to.
If they are allowed to burn them openly, do they have to get a permit?
(focus on handling the remains)
