I have to give a persuasive speech on a controversial issue. I'm having a little trouble finding links that give valid information. I need statistics on how much has been destroyed, endangered animals, pros and cons of the destruction. Anything would be helpful! :)

I can't think of any pros. Besides the Rainforest Action Network (RAN), you can also check out a NASA website called Earth Observatory, which has information on deforestation and destruction of the rainforest (see source below). Nothing speaks louder than direct experience, so if you could speak with people who have been to a rainforest and witnessed first hand the destruction that is taking place, that might help you as well. You might find such individuals by contacting RAN or an organization that sponsors eco-trips to the rainforest (see sources).

The destruction of the rain forests that was reported by environmentalist just isn't happening like they once stated. That is why it doesn't get attention anymore. They used to say that "Over 100,000 acres of rain forest a day are disappearing"! If that were the case, South America would already be a parking lot. It's total liberal crap!
