I think about all the good bands and I think how good Def leppard sounds. "Photograph", "Foolin", "Bring on the heartbreak", "Pour some sugar on me". All of those songs ROCK! I just think a lot of people don't give them enough credit but I'm starting to really like them a lot.

I've always been told that Patti Smith is a pioneer of punk. Now, I love Patti Smith, but I don't see how her music translates to other other punk acts such as the New York Dolls. Wasn't punk a rebellion against what was popular at the time, progressive musicians with 8 minute long songs? Punk was fast and barely surpassed 3 minutes a song. Patti Smith's songs were often 5+ minutes. I could see the punk aspects in her lyrics, but in the music itself, I just don't get it.

Not necessarily the best guitarists, but rather the guitarists who are unique and put an odd twist to their guitar work instead of the normal stuff.

I'd say Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave. The solo in "Killing in the Name" is really interesting....

I wasn't a fan of Blur but I think one of their members joining the hideously appalling group 'the gorillaz' was still a huge career dive. From a half-decent, tolerable group to one that ranks with Rihanna, 50 cent and the pussycat dolls.

ok, i love 60's and 70's music. i want a list of the best songs and singers from the 60's and 70's. i want personal opinions or charts. either. i just want to get more good music, but i dont know who all was good. i want the kind of music that is used on movies and commercials today. just for example jimi hendrix-let me stand by your fire was on lords of dogtown. im more into the psycadelic stuff or the anti war stuff. so if you could list some of those that would be great.

thanks!

ps. the person with the most good songs gets the best answer award.

I was at a place called Momi Toby's Revolutionary Cafe in San Francisco a month ago, and the young (20's) Barista who was on was playing some revolutionary music. The music had a hard driving rock beat similar to some of Springsteens music, but this guy's voice was even rougher and more gravel-ly, and while the guy's language was clean, he didn't spare the sword. He took vicious swings at the establishment from the opening to closing of his tunes.

I am kicking myself for not asking who this guy was. I even tried calling the place with no luck, but I am hoping that this rings a bell with some of you music experts out there.

I don't think the guy was a group, because he was the only artist on the whole album, no back-up vocals. His lyrics were also relatively complicated. Dylanisk in complexity, but much harsher (And with the hard driving rock beat). I would love to get that album. Perfect for these times. Thanks for your ideas!

I wasn't planning to write a song but the words just kinda kept popping in my head so I just wrote it down real quickly, Tell my what you think. Im sure im probly gonna make some changes to it later.

The Lost Dream

Remember when you were young
Dreaming about the fire that burned inside of you
Whatever happened to the fire within you

Now all that remains
Is a cold desolate dessert

Open up your mind
Think about the things you’ve never thought
What would this life be like
If we could just see the other side

Expand your mind
Look at the horizon
Theirs no limit to what can be accomplished

I think the time has come
To reignite the thermite
That once engraved a dream within side of me

Why is it we never live till were ready to die!!!
