ok, i love 60's and 70's music. i want a list of the best songs and singers from the 60's and 70's. i want personal opinions or charts. either. i just want to get more good music, but i dont know who all was good. i want the kind of music that is used on movies and commercials today. just for example jimi hendrix-let me stand by your fire was on lords of dogtown. im more into the psycadelic stuff or the anti war stuff. so if you could list some of those that would be great.

thanks!

ps. the person with the most good songs gets the best answer award.

Well now if you're counting early sixties...

Any song by Roy Orbison. Righteous brothers, Walker Brothers, Everly Brothers, Beach Boys, Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons, Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners and the list is endless. There were many great songs by one hit wonders too.

There is a book out , I think is it called the Golden Years of Rock and Roll" by Norman Knight. Give listings by songs, groups, name and has all their songs listed as well as group bios and what happened to them.

Keep in mind, these groups I listed are more love song crooner type stuff but that was a very big part of the 60's

When it comes to music of the 60's or 70's, your better off with albums instead of just individual songs. Based on your tastes I'd try some of these

The Beatles - The Magical Mystery Tour
Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced
The Doors - L.A. Woman
Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (great anti-war stuff)
The Velvet Underground & Nico (banana album)

Those are some good ones to get you started. Every song on each of those albums are amazing.

Whoa--a tall order, lee. Let's say (based on your one song "Fire") I program it like one of those online radio stations:

I Can See For Miles--the Who
War--Edwin Starr
Reflections--the Supremes
Standing At the Station--Ten Years After
Frankenstein--Edgar Winter Group
See Emily Play--Pink Floyd
I Don't Live Today--Jimi Hendrix Experience
Empty Sky--Elton John
Let It All Hang Out--Los Hombres
